Free Goods Friday: Airhole & I/S

March 16

//

For this week’s Free Goods Friday we are featuring both Airhole and I/S eyewear. Why feature two brands in one contest? Well, they are both Canadian based brands. That is a good enough reason right? If you happen to win this one you will receive a lovely Party Snake branded Ninja Mask and and a pair of I/S goggles. To celebrate the Canadian roots we want to hear who your favorite Canadian snowboarder is. In the comment section below, tell us who your favorite rider coming out of Canada is and why. We will pick out favorite answer to be the lucky winner. Not bad eh?

Contest ends 3/23/12

  • Brendan Peterson

MARK MC MORRISON is wayyyyy gangster

  • Joel Otnes

Marie-France Roy. Yeah, my favorite rider is a female. She rips and inspires me to push myself. There is no shame in being bettered by a woman, especially one as talented as her.

  • Kshred

This is a no brainer. Devun Walsh is my favorite Canadian rider. His intro to A Young Brown Walsh is still my favorite: going huge and eating shit with his buds hollerin’ in the background! Switch backside fives. Half cabs. wildcats. The Wildcats. Lil Bastards! Iris Snow. I/S Design. What else is there to say about Devun but timeless style and lasting influence. Less is more, and I would much rather watch Devun’s 180s than anyone’s double cork. I think that’s all I have to say about that, eh?

  • Tyler Jay

Any Snowboarder that comes out of Canada is a RIPPER!!

  • Colin White

jed anderson=steezy (except for the skinny pants)

  • http://www.duncanshredder.com Duncan Campbell

Seb Touts – just awesome kool guy – throwing down smooth brilliant runs under pressure – great ambassador for Canada.

  • Jesse R

ROBJN TAYLOR! He is a true snowboarder in every sense of the meaning. He’s out there everyday ripping for the love of it and nothing else. His edits are sick and he is an all around nice guy. I’ve never seen someone more stoked on riding.

  • Logan Dyer

Mark McMorris, He is killing the contest scene right now and hes website has a ton of funny and sick edits that are starting to bow up, plus the kids trick list goes deeper that his triple corks so he is obviously the #1 rider coming out of Canada.

  • Pack

Devun Walsh no doubt……he is been in the game for a long time…..he is one of the best rider ever and always trying to improve….settin the example to al the young riders……..props to devun!!!!!!!!!!

Mark McMorris is crazy good. Def my favorite rider coming outta Canada. He throws down hard in whatever he does and is always awesome to watch.

Devun Walsh. Killer old English tattoo and stalled out, tweaked spins.

  • Zach Janz

Dev Walsh… one of the greatest riders to ever touch the backcountry, mind-blowing video parts, was an OG on the forum 8 when it all began, Founder of IS eyewear, all around great Canadian.

  • Travis

Kevin Sansalone. original Seymour kid, helmet innovator, shred master extrodinaire! Super nice guy in person as well!

    seb tout for pros

    lukas mccabe for ams

  • nilber

    the moose!

    he’s canadian right?

  • PJ

Favorite Canadian Boarder right now is Sebastien Toutant cause of how smothly he nails all his double corks. Seeing him in all the big air stuff, I was surprised to see his steet and rail tricks. Plus, with him being so young he has so much further to go in becoming a real powerhouse in snowboarding.

  • Leif Crawforth

I can not believe it!! Not one mention of the man himself!!
Kale Stephens is the “MAN” when it comes to riders out of Canada!!
Growing up on a dirt mound like Blue Mountain, Ont. to hittin drops bigger
than most people would go off with a parashout!!
I don’t care what anybody says……You ARE the MAN Kale!!!

  • Andrew Saddington

I am going to go with the OG Sean Johnson aka Boozy the Clown. He founded Stepchild Snowboards and gave a lot of new riders like Simon Chamberlain their start. I am pretty sure the Party Snake would be extinct without Sean Johnson, Kearns and the Whiskey crew. He definitely wasn’t the best rider or had the best style but has had a significant impact on the Canadian snowboard scene.

Dev is pretty good as well.

  • Haley

Devun Walsh all the way… “I just really, really enjoy shredding powder.”

  • http://www.beaverwax.com BeaverWax

BeaverWax riders; Devun Walsh, Chris Dufficy and Mark McMorris. When you ride the best wax, you become the greatest!

  • Alejandro

My favourite rider is Crispin Lipscomb, because he’s name is so SEXY and APPETISING I could totally order him for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. OH YEAH !

  • Luke McCabe

Seb Tout’s been rippin’ it for Canada!

  • http://www.christopherbaldry.com Chris Baldry

Favorite Canadian rider = BEAU BISHOP! No doubt. Overcoming what happened last season to ride again….he loves what he does….what more can I say? Dudes the man for sure!

  • Ryan

Mark mcmorris. Hes young and hes sick

  • Jandrito

My favourite rider is Ken Achenbach because he created Camp Of Champions which is the best snowpark in the world and although he is getting “old” he is still rocking it ! ! !

  • Joe

Mark mcmorris he got 2 x games gold hes sick in art of flight and he can shred!

  • http://twitter.com/joeyishellagood Joey Lusvardi

My favorite Canadian rider is… all of them. Canada freakin’ rules!!!!

  • Max Worhatch

I have to go with Devun Walsh. As a Northwest native like me, he’s my go to guy of how I aspire to ride, riding the deepest powder possible and going balls out on jumps to create majestic, clean landings.

  • Marcelo

Mark McMorris, for style and huge jumps…Really awesome

  • Trevor

Devun Walsh, because he’s a good backcountry rider.

  • Kenton

The best rider that came out of canada i would have to say is Greg Todds because he was the man to take his bindings off his snowboard and make noboarding and for those who don’t know, him and Al Clark started the half pipe so go and watch The Search For Mountain Jimm and the stuff they where doing in 97 is like bigger and better then what people are doing now

  • Eddy Crawford

    Got to be Devun Walsh!
    Absolute machine in the powder!

  • Chris G

I have to go with Sebastien Toutant. He has come back from some scary injuries, like that huge air to flat in his test jump at the 2009 Innsbruck Air & Style,to be a consistent top contest winner. Did you see his slopestyle runs at the US Open? I also like that he comes from Montreal, I like to see East Coast guys do well. For a guy with a nick name of Toots, he can sure bring it.

  • Tarun Ghose

Id go with Geoff Brown, the guy kills it for fun not just a living. He’s one of those guys who anyone can approach and he’ll have nothing but positive things to say. Plus he cameos in a ton for crapneto masterpieces, anyone who’s a right hand man to robjn has to be something special.

  • capa

Nev Lapwood. Not because he is the best rider out there, but I really appreciate his work on snowboard tutorials. He helped me a lot.

  • shredder for real

Devun Walsh, he is the man when it comes to backcountry, love his style of riding

  • Josh

Jake Kuzyk because he is a robot

  • Logan Seiler

Jed Anderson, beacause hes got mad style and he wears a helmet.

  • http://www.powpals.com Johnny Action

Justin Bieber! KID IS A SHREDDER. I heard he’s going to take down Shaun White at the 2013 X-Games and the 2014 Olympics. Apparently he can sing too!

  • http://www.troubleandrew.com/ Andrew

Hands down, TRZA, Trevor Andrew, the OG Canadian snowboarder, and yes Nova Scotia is a part of Canada. Trouble Gang TWD.

  • Alex

Clark, the Canadian hockey goalie. One of the great two sport athletes of our time.

  • Stu Busha

Sebastian Toutant cuz he throws HUGE triple corks

  • SeymoreShredwell

Scotty Brown, tha beast with nose presses that melt faces and moisten the panties of all the red leaf women.

  • Kyle

Mark mcmorris he kills slope style plus he’s in a couple of frendsvision clips -awesome:)

  • Levi Whitney

My favorite rider coming out of Canada is E-man Anderson! He has the most style out of anyone, and his bag of tricks is limitless. Nothing he does looks wack. Whens he turning pro?

  • SeymoreShredwell

Scotty Brown, nose presses that melt faces, switch front boards that make the planet fall off axis, and steez that makes Charlie Sheen look like a bum. The true red leaf rail kiilllaaaa.

  • http://anarchystyle.com braeden

    I don’t like canadians …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….just kidding

Jed Anderson cause he is filthy on errrrthing!!!!!!

  • Tristyn

Jed Anderson, ultimate monster at everything snow

  • http://www.twitter.com/geekcartel Eric

Right now I’d have to say Sebastien Toutant aka Seb Toots. He just tears up any slopestyle course like he owns team.

  • Kumayl Rashid

My favorite Canadian boarder is North Vancouver’s own, Maëlle Ricker, because she was the first Canadian woman to win a gold medal on home soil at the Olympics.

  • Atozcomp

D Walsh for tearing up a little mountain I love to shred…in the footsteps of greatness!

  • Niklas

My favorite rider from canada would be Sebastien Toutant because he has one of the best styles and also how nice an down to earth he is. He doesn’t just ride for the sponsors and the money, but also for the patien for te sport.

  • Federico Ultimini

Ross Rebagliati (1998 winter olympic games – gold medal)

  • Charlotte Mountford

My favourite Canadian boarder is Sarah Conrad…inspirational and magical in the halfpipe!

  • Colby Yee

Nic Sauve is definitely my favorite rider coming out of Canada. HIs Real Snow part was sick and legit and he had incredible style. He goes big on all of his tricks and seems to just have a general passion for the sport. He is definitely here to stay in urban!

  • DBigwood

Dopest snowboarder in the game… The Boss, Chris Bradshaw. Hands down, steeziest and most greasiest style, so technical, smokes the wheeze on the reg, and is a gangster ass dad. Thats how i live my life lol, just be yourself, do what you feel is right and have fun in life. All of bradshaws video parts look like he’s just chillin with his homies and havin a bomb time, sick music, sick style and siiiiick snowboarding. He’s a pioneer in the game, and someone to be respected forever. I don’t even care if i win the swag, even tho I’ve rode with the PSNAKE boys out in seymour, obreezy labelled me Hewie Dean Hardwood ch ch ch …. i just wanna give big ups to a man who has changed to game forever, bringing back simple tricks with unsurpassable amounts of style, shredding with good people from bear mountain and making dope edits on the reg. BIG UPS!
    - Bigwood

  • DBigwood

ah crap… didn’t read the rules. canadian snowboarder?? whole different game, id have to give respect to all the party snake boys out of Van. My homie, kael hill is a BEAST, rode with him at COP in calgary and he’s an animal. the whole canadian scene is unreal so its hard to pinpoint. E Man Anderson. Number 1. BIG UPS once again
    - Bigwood

  • Christopher Winze

I think Seb Toots is pretty cool because he beats the shit out of Mark McMorris!

  • RG

Sluggo, original 2 sport “star”. The biggest airs on a skate and snowboard.

  • K.

I’ve been reading the comments and it’s pretty hard to argue with them, but as far as pro’s that are currently very active in snowboarding, for my money, I’m going with Sean Genovese. I just spent a bunch of time trying to figure out if he’s actually Canadian, and he is. I just keep forgetting he is. He’s from Surrey, and he’s running one of the most legit snow companies around right now (alongside Jeff Keenan). Plus, I’m pretty anxious for his part in the DWD vid. I was kinda bummed when he didn’t have a part in the Think Thank vid last year (the vid company he has with Jesse Burtner). He does all that business stuff but he’s still a top pro. And it’s grassroots style business.

  • dani

Sen Toots hands down. He is a snowboarding genius and has the ability to go very far and I have a feeling we will be watching him in awe for a very long tome indeed! :)

  • Arthur Bekx

I think Mark Sollors is the best Canadian boarder !

His style is just incredible and he does things other nsoboarder never done before on videos .

He’s maybe not the best on the halpipe but on the big air he kills everybody

  • Brown

Sebastian Toutant because he throws down on the big ass kicker event at the X Games

  • Will Reynolds

i think sebastien toutant is my favourite rider right now because he can shred anything. that isnt the only reason i think he is but he is a good role model for kids like me. when your watching his sick edits and cleanly landing his double corks and going well in x games there is nothing better and you just think i want to be like him one day.thats why he is my favourite canadian snowboarder

  • Alex Glynn

Caroline Calvé, she’s beautiful and so, so talented.

  • Henry BC

Laurent-Nicolas Paquin. because he gets sick shots in the urban and he has a nice beard.

  • Michael Smith

Mark McMorris. WHY? Cause he landed a fricking triple cork 1440! Duh!

  • andres benavides

mark mcmorris, he’s hands down the best canadian snowboarder, his whole life is snowboarding, in the good way, and hes a huge inspiration for a lot of canadian young people like myself, hes just awesome and humble, i respect that

  • Isaiah Aldrish

d walsh for sure. Legend in the game, and still throws down

  • Matthew Reid

Mike Michalchuk is a Canadian pioneer and an influential freestyle rider. One of the first to land a double backflip in Halfpipe competition and has invented several tricks including the “Michalchuk” (which Mark McMorris himself called a sick trick). He did tricks that no one else did and pushed his own limits and represented Canada in two olympic games.

  • Ene Rebane

Natalie Andrès, because she is simply the best

  • Tyson

Ross Rebagliati, because he can still win a gold medal while stoned out of his mind. Gotta love it!

Devun Walsh is my favourite – its his style

  • David

Mark McMorris. He pushes the limits of riding.

  • http://www.hcspirit.com Rostislav Bakalov

Jed Anderson because he is sick, his sponsors are the best and of course he is The Chosen One :D

  • Jess

I would say Mark McMorris, he is 17 years old and just received two golds in the x-games slope and big air. His style is crazy and new.

  • Gary Humphrey

    i like jed-anderson

  • josh

Eman Anderson 1 because he has one of the sickest styles out there 2 hes one of the most underrated snowboarders out there right now and 3 lets face it he’s a ginger and its hard to find someone that seeems cool, i’snt cocky, and kills it all at the same time

  • Amy

My favorite Snowboarder from Canada is Ross Rebagliati because he is the First Olympic gold Medalist in Snowboarding .

  • http://Snowboarder Andy L

DEVUN WALSH! I know plenty of others have suggested him but they say nothing about how the dude has been ruling backcountry since before people knew about backcountry! Been pro for 15 plus, has one of the best pro models out there with DC and is passing on the knowledge to his Polar Opposite Iikka, among others. Taking it upon himself to teach the youngens how to shred soulfully, and responsibly, sustainably! Devun put Canadians on the map, I deserve this package for demonstrating I understand this! PLEASE!!

  • Yoshi

Mark McMorris for one reason, he simply SHREDS THE GNAR!!!

  • Cole

DCP. His Charisma and style is like no other. He is one of the best all time i’ve ever seen

  • CM

Mclovin. (Mark McMorris). watch ‘Art of Flight’ and see that they only put him in for one trick. The Triple Cork. One of the smoothest ive seen ever. This kid has all around talent and can shred like no other

  • Leo Gardner

Mark mcmorris: yes i know just like every one else but he truly inspires me too get better when i get home from school i sit down and watch this guy on all my spare time, he pretty much owns all back country i mean try watching him youll see where im commin from, when i am up at my local mountain thinking about trying new things or just plain old riding this guy comes in my mind and pushes me to do great things so that i can be like him when i grow up, and not only on the mountain does he make me want to do great, he also makes me want to do great in school so tht my good greats could help me get a scholarship at a snowboarding college so tht one day i may be just like him and thts why mark mcmorris is my favorite shredder overall not just canadian all around favorite rider. Thanks mark your great.

  • Nate

LNP is my favorite snowboarder coming out of canada! Mostly because of the beard but also because he is keeping snowboarding at its best! He doesnt snowboard for anyone but himself which is what snowboarding is to me. LNP KEEPS IT REAL

  • austin

Mark McMorris!!! who is the first to complete a backside triple cork 1440? isnt that enough? and also, everytime i watch a video of him, i get so motivated to try anything. he is a great role model and is very inspirational. one day, i probably wont be, but i want to be at his level. he is the best canadian, he is only 18 also, he has plenty of years to even further his triple cork! hands down the best big air rider with his triple cork. So inspiring.

  • Shane Johnson

Mark McMorris because he is the essence of shred. Nuff said.
