It’s Friday… you know what that means don’t you, more giveaways as part of our Free Goods Friday series. This week we teamed up with Rhythm to offer you a whole bunch of goods to satisfy any season. The package includes a full outerwear kit, shorts, and a couple tees. To go along with the brand name “Rhythm” we decided to base this contest around music. In the comment section below tell us what song gets you most pumped up to go snowboarding. We will pick out favorite answer to be the lucky winner of this grip of gear.

Alright, so it turns out that I’m a little bit old… Remember at the end of “Scream of Consciousness”, when Craig and everybody is riding through the trees in the powder and they play “I’m Free” by the Soup Dragons? That scene just hit me. It just captured everything I loved about snowboarding. School, parents, girls..all disapeared when i hit the mountain. There was nothing else in the world, and it was amazing. I was free! So, I ran down to the music store and bought the cassette, i was so stoked that they even had it. I spent all afternoon listening to the song. Now when I hear that song, It gets me pumped to ride, because it immediately takes me back to that time and that pure feeling of freedom and enjoyment.

Honestly, I listen to everything. If I’m not jamming out to some Hendrix, then I’m bumping some hip hop somewhere on the lines of Jurassic 5, and if I’m not keeping it real hood with that g shit, then I’m blaring the craziest dubstep, techno, drum n bass out there. My favorite song to ride to of all time probably has to be… a throw up between “Lick the Rainbow” by my favorite electro- house dubstep artist Mord Fustang, and Smiley Faces by Gnarls Barkley. Both these songs put me in probably the best mood ever and thats just what I need when I’m snowboarding. That feeling that’s better than any high where you are just loving every minute of it and there’s nothing that can bring you down. It’s almost as if Lick the Rainbow puts me in a whole other world where there’s good vibes and motivation for progression. Smiley Faces does pretty much the same thing by boosting that level of pure joy and happiness emulating what snowboarding is basically all about. If you haven’t heard either of these artists or their songs I highly recommend checking them out!! You won’t be disappointed.

For me it all really matters on the day and what kind of riding i want to do. If im trying to stomp new tricks that tend to spook me a little i need some heavy music, some parkway drive, to help me balls up and send it! If its a day that im doing some more relaxed riding and and trying to find the rythm* i tend to go with some hip hop, some technine, stuff like that. There is honestly so many songs that i hear that instantly make me wanna go boarding, really i always want to go, the love and dersire i have to ride and learn new things is unlimited and in the end its my love for the sport that keeps me on the hill.

I’ll be honest, My favorite songs to ride to are:
Buzzin’ by Overwerk
Self Taught by Brother Ali

I like those because they pump me up for many reasons.
1. Chorus, the choruses on these songs are big and noticeable. Gives you a ‘yeah buddy’ feeling when they come on, and I just feel good about anything I want to try and it just kinda brings my mood up anytime.
2. They came from some of my favorite edits, when these songs play when I ride or anything really, I can recall certain parts of the edit where that part of the song came in, which also just gets me pumped up. It gives a song a bigger meaning.
3. They have a good beat! Buzzin is more of an electronic song meaning it has a higher bpm (beats per minute) number, so it is able to kinda push me to go faster and work harder. Meanwhile, Self Taught has a repeating beat which kinda pumps me up. The lyrics of the song pump me up.

I love everything about these songs, I could ride to just those two on replay all day.
