Being a veteran and seeing hundreds of caskets wrapped in the American flag in Afghanistan I gained a different outlook on life and to me any day I wake up and am still here to breathe this air is life. I'm standing at the top of a mountain; cold air and silence surround me. My body trembles with each breath that freezes and falls to the ground. I stare down at the path below me; an angry frost swallows my goggles, and a sly wind kicks up the snow around me. I'm tired, I'm hungry, I'm scared and I'm cold. I wonder to myself how I ended up at this peak, first time on a board, and not a friend in sight. My heart beats faster and faster and I know there is only one way down. I look at my board and whisper out loud "Ok board, I dunno if I like you, and you may not like me but somehow we're getting through this together". I strap in and inch my way to the top of the run. The wind picks up and pushes me over the edge. My board begins speeding down the steep slope and I'm thinking "Ya! I'm doing it! I'm doing it! I'm...." SMASHHHHHHHH......I catch an edge and go flying into the woods. I don't know if I hit the tree or the tree hit me, but I definitely feel the pain. I sit there for a second, take in the moment and think "Wow, THAT WAS AWESOME!" And so the meaning of life? Well friends, it's simply to live and love every moment :)

Finding pow? Jokes, jokes, but being serious, I think life's about finding something worth living for. A lot of people go through life on a straight, linear line without having anything important to them or taking any risks. For us snowboarders, we take risks, we slam hard, but we never stop riding. We've found something important that no one can take away, because after the snow is gone and the mountains are green, we still take the snow from the indoor ice rink and set it up at a handrail. That's what it's all about.

Hmm, the meaning of life... is obviously deferent from person to person, but for me, the meaning of my life so far would have to be friends. Sometimes you have none, and your lonelier then shit, but when your with your best friends, either snowboarding, camping, or just chillen drinking some brews, it seems to make life really worth living. Snowboarding is great just by your self, but when you get a few friends mixed in there it can really blow up. When all of you experience that sick line that weaves through the trees in feet of fresh pow, or you all lock into a rail and pull some stezy trick off it, and you all look at each other thinking the same thing, "THAT WAS FUCKING SICK!'
