Pat's Crap
SNOWBOARDER Magazine Editor Pat Bridges went on a bit of a cleaning tear this week. We’re talking ten years of “priceless” snowboard memorabilia from around the globe, some of this hasn’t seen daylight since 87! Classic stickers, swag, videos you thought you’d never see again, original art, autographs, random wax, used socks, vintage magazines, audio from interviews with uber pros, and more!!! We honestly don’t even know what half this stuff is, but it’s good, and you want it.

To win this stuff all you have to do is tell us who the best hand-planter in the history of snowboarding is. There’s no right answer, but there definitely are wrong answers, and the wrong answers don’t get jack. We’ll pick three commenters to receive a box of Pat’s stuff. No telling what your gonna get, good luck.

As always you can increase your chances of winning by marking your comment with your Gravatar!! Gravatars are the small images that appear next to your name in comments and will automatically appear once you sign up at Gravatar and enter your email below!

Shipping only to US and Canada.
Contest ends Wednesday February 3, 2010.
for more.
Congratulations to Slippery, Jonathan Tavenner, and Doug…shrdtilded. These individuals have an eye for a plant and were hand picked by “the Eye” himself SNOWBOARDER Magazine Editor Pat Bridges. See their comments below. Enjoy your junk!!

JP WALKER!

Peru, I grew up sk8ing & am 37. Sounds like we're from the exact same era. I fully remember Gator's story. It was a shock @ the time & so was Hosoi's later. Anyway, it's cool..., I wasn't dissin' or mad, I was just sayin', that's all. Take it easy dude, later, peace! "Shred or Die!" :o)

James, the "Gator" killed his girlfriend and buried her in the desert and yeah he'll be in prison for a long time. I wouldn't feel sorry for someone who commits murder, But i do think the handplant reference is in poor taste but funny nonetheless. I still have one of his boards, maybe if i send it to him in jail he'll sign it. Wonder if they allow him to skate in prison? Anyhow, I forgot to include Lance Mountain and Steve Cab. I know these are all skaters but i think they do the best handplants

Did anyone say Markus Keller, he is on the cover of the mag?

I looked around a little on the net and while I like JP Walker's style and I found some good video of his hardplants, he isn't my favorite. I am an old guy and I really like Craig Kelly for pure style with those crazy 80's clothes, but snowboarding has "progressed" so much since Craig. But I came across this picture of Alvaro Vogel and have to say its my favorite. http://www.snowrev.com/News/All/Alvaro-Vogel-on-Nomis And I think you know Scooby-Doo is my favorite cross over guy doing handplants on snowboards and skateboards.

You ain't even funny Peru, that poor guy's still in prison to the best of my knowledge & probably will be for the rest of his life. Good call on Vallely though. Do you remember the competition between him & Sal Barbier though? A ho-ho streetplant shove-it ended it all, for real! That's the trick that ended the comp & called it off, other guy didn't wanna' lose his jewels, know what I mean? That's it! This'll be the next stoopid ass phase in snowboarding, kids wearin' cotton/spandex too tight jeans of course doin' ho-hos & streetplants in the resort parking lots on their snowboards! 1-footed strapped in plants'll be all the rage for awhile but then they're gonna' have to go with both bindings upstrapped & just do whatever they can & feels right, ya' dig!? Then 10 years from now, they'll be sportin' strapless bindings with magnetic baseplates & boot soles just so they can do 1260s with varials thrown in, It'll be like Colin McKay except in the snow pipe! Power to the new school... Then again, wouldn't that just moreless be an advanced snowskate? Oh well, like I said, stoopid..., later, peace!

How about the "Gator", the pro skateboarder from the 80's. He used to do a mean handplant and also planted his girlfriends hand in the desert. Ha.

More recent times I would say JP - altho I was watching reminiscing w/ an old Whiskey video (maybe Whiskey 2) a month or so ago that had some pretty entertaining handstands. Def can re-watch this weekend.

By: Ryan M

January 29

I do! It's one thing to watch JP Walker, or someone put up a sweet handplant. but in my history its way more fulfilling to do it myself especially the first one i did succesfully, then to watch an uber pro do it!

By: capnz

January 29

definetly Peter Line, he just did what looked fun not by trick or hardness but by the amount of fun he had with it like his wallride sliding handplants totally for the love of snowboarding

By: Eli

January 29

the first person that comes to mind would be terje. anyone who can do a different handplant on every wall going down the pipe with insane style and keep his speed for each plant is the best. terje! honorable mentions would be mueller, bridges, and mayby dirksen for doing one footed frontside inverts and other shenanigans.

By: Cody Taylor

Dwayne Wiebe , JP walker, Knut Eliassen,

Mike Jacoby- J-Tear Eddie Elguera- Elguerial Tim Windell- Dew Plant, it was the beginning of the X movement and drink sponsorship. Bridges- Ally Oop Elguerial, at least that's what it looked like.
