Contest Has Ended. Congrats to Patrick Canavan.

Iceland is a tiny island plopped in the North Atlantic, known mostly for unusual names with too many letters (Björk?), peculiar vernacular (double cork?), and the now-infamous ash-spewing volcano that disrupted trans-Atlantic travel and wreaked havoc in airports the world over for close to two weeks (sign of the Apocalypse?). However, if Halldór Helgason has anything to say about his motherland’s legacy, Europe’s westernmost country (British Virgin Islands?) is soon to be viewed as the foremost hatchery on the foreign freestyle front (suck it, China). Voted as this publication’s Rookie of the Year by his peers (JP Walker and Peter Line), locking down one of the year’s best video parts in Standard’s Black Winter (first part at the end) and taking home X Games Big Air gold (with two perfect scores?) last season, Halldór proved that his riding is recognized by the core while also relevant to the mainstream (Scotty Lago-son?)—a nearly impossible feat in the new age of categorized “contest kids” and “video dudes.” Oh yeah, and lest we forget, there’s the launch of his (and brother Eiki’s) site, helgasons.com (snowboarding’s chat roulette?). Now, we’re giving you a chance to win Halldór’s head-to-toe kit, so enter ASAP, ‘cause there’s no doubt that in years to come Halldór will be a household name, and unlike that pesky little volcano, the only thing Halldór is going to disrupt when he fully blows up is all of professional snowboarding.

Ah man, I'm ussually not the person to get my hopes up on winning a set up but this past season in January I did A backside boardslide and caught my edge and ended up tearing my ACL, MCL and meniscus all at once permenatly screwing me over for my season, it would mean so much if I could win this set up, not to mention the helgason's Are sick!

August 7

Ya, I think i should get halldor's gear just like everyone else because i've been deprived of my every chance to go riding last year and most of this year due to the simple fact of my lovely year i've had to spend in IRAQ. But it's almost over and i'll be home for winter this year. please o please o please... Either way Halldor you rock bro. Make your own movie your part in black winter wasn't enough.
