Everyone knows Shayne Pospisil hails from New Jersey and that he’s a pretty darn good-looking dude. However, before you go dishing out Snooki jokes and pretty-boy puns, also know that a few years back, Shayne took home one of the largest prize purses ever awarded in modern-day snowboarding when he won the Red Bull Snowscrapers event right across the river in New York City. With $50,000 in his pocket, one of snowboarding’s biggest underdogs finally got his day, and I personally was very pleased to hear that news, as I’ve been a fan for a long time. Making the move from the Garden State to the Golden State at the turn of the century, Shayne started lapping Mammoth’s Main Park with his crew of Crewsaiderz (i.e., Greg Bokenkamp, Cody Rosenthal, and Nate Farrell) on the regular. It wasn’t long before the four of them had become recognizable names, not only in Mono County, but in the snowboard world as well, and they’re still dominating half a decade later, with shots in Commotion Pictures’ self-titled release and Play Big Productions’ Another Day in Paradise.
