Yesterday, November 9, Bear Mountain opened for the 2011 season. Snowboarder’s Special Projects Design Director Big Mike and myself got permission from the bosses to leave our cubicles and get in some much needed boarding. Big Mike had never been to Big Bear, so this was a Big Adventure for the Little Guy.

Sunny skies, substantial snow coverage, tons of features, and a crew of good homies made for one of the best opening days I have ever attended. Top-to-bottom power laps with Big Mike and Castro gave my legs that welcoming preseason burn. Big thanks to Clayton Shoemaker and the rest of the Bear Mountain staff for a great day. Winter is finally upon us.

that place is wack. Same set-up year after year. How many rails do you need in a park? Throw in some quarter-pipes, jumps, etc. That’s part of the reason why 90% of so cal would rather drive 5 hours north to go ride…well that and all the dirtbags and cheeseballs who ride there regularly.
