Best of Test: Best Snowboards from Utah

Utah snowboarders are relatively diverse. With rails in Salt Lake shining brightly for riders looking to cause an urban upset and some of the best backcountry just up the road, it’s no surprise that the high ranking boards from this regions Best of Test were varied. SNOWBOARDER staff headed to Snowbasin from February 3-5 to see which boards would prevail on basin’s freshly groomed powder surfaces. Utah’s testers seem to have a knack for good snowboard knowledge, as 2 of the 3 boards that ruled this region made it into our top spots during our nationwide search.

Best of Utah: K2 Slayblade

K2 SLAYBLADE

“The Slayblade was a fun board also using the zero-camber idea. It had a slightly different shape and sidecut, but had a similar feel to the Rook except a little bit stiffer. It still was fun, though, and could rail.”

“I really liked this board a lot, unlike other boards with rocker, it actually was stable at higher speeds and during aggressive turns. The Machete’s nose and tail stay down during your turns, and you don’t get that washy/unstable feeling that you do on other decks with this technology. The carbon array tech that they use is really felt in this application.”
