Words & Photos: Sean Kerrick Sullivan

A lush summer in Utah had nearly became a certified Indian Summer when weathermen suddenly spotted a weather pattern that had them calling out a significant winter storm almost a week in advance. I was barefoot, in boardshorts, fishing from a raft at the time, and the idea of snow hardly seemed plausable. Like usual, the weather guys were wrong. They called for a storm to hit Northern Utah and the Wasatch Front on Wednesday evening, and guess what, it rolled in a day early. By 7am on Wednesday, October 6 2011, a foot of snow had already fallen high in the mountains. Ted Borland, Matty Mo, Dylan Thompson, Chris Grenier, Bode Merrill and a grip of others were on it immediately………just like you’d expect.
