So, NIKE was just doin' it again, turning Ams to pros and whipping up another visually appealing CHOSEN rail jam at Camelback Resort in Tannersville, PA. Camelbacks "Sunbowl" was quickly transformed into a unique street style jib line, giving a real diverse group of hungry east coasters a chance to "live like a pro" for the night. It was quite a scene -- an outrageous amount of lighting, fog machines pumping up top, a live Dj bumping down below, and tons of contenders flocking in from all over to get a chance to take home some seriously cold hard cash. The 3rd stop of the tour and the tour's only east coast event seemed to summon this season's elusive winter. Nike and the Camelback terrain park staff dialed in the complete setup just in time for a surprising natural storm adding to the already alluring NIKE wonderland.
The course consisted of a straight drop-in with four main features. The right side included a pole jam or gap to platform moving right into the two down rails, one large stock round bar and another skirted single barrel rail. For the lower left set, a creeper ledge and a square down-flat bar was set into a chiseled-out extended six-stair. The course dropped out to end with a massive propane tank set up as a spine, giving riders one final option for their run. The contest was set for 4 25-minute heats in a jam format, and included 100 invited riders total. The top three from each heat moved into the finals, along with 2 wild card picks.
Giving this right-coast batch of selected Am's the opportunity to perform on such a unique playing field really put the overall vibe on another scale. The hype carried through some intense heats, pushing everyone to elevate their game and deliver some real crowd-and judge-pleasers. The overall CHOSEN talent pool was impressive to watch, with each rider trying to outshine the next in hopes for an envelope and bragging rights.

Thanks to everyone at Nike, Camelback, CBK's park staff, Liquid Lightning, and all of the many CHOSEN competitors.

Dear old grit, camelbacks target market is families and kooks like you, they are a wal-mart mountain seeking sales from rentals, lift tickets and food. they will never have a big push in snowboarding that died 10 years ago at that place when half the mountain turned into a water park. They also make more off the waterpark. so why would they give a shit about lil snowboard kids? no money there

Lets be upfront for an east coast hill to stage anything with the weather we had just before the comp, you're lucky it wasnt pond skimming, sometimes you should shut the F up and be happy that people were bringing this to you. Its a start!! as for snow, Sorry but mountain creek sucks for that and while I am at it... if you had n't noticed they (Creek) are targeting the family now, how many of you punk ass kids will be looked after in the new village or hotel!!! Camelback is looking to bring you on board, creek is looking to your future and its dim, they want families - where the money is, I have yet to read one constructive comment, why not be a touch profssional and yes ... maybe the DJ and the experience is something they lack, you really think your childish comments will be read unless you address this like a pro. Grow up, provide real feedback and guess what you may be heard. The future is education, the more you educate the better it will be for all, childish rants will be viewed just as that!! the tears of a child. So wipe your nose and try again. Progression is the name of the game, where was CB a few years back? at least now they are going in the right direction, go back to your creek and family village, you'll be left out in the cold. An old git that remembers th ereal snowboarders, Palmer!! Kelly,, do some reasearch.

Someone on a snowboard program's budget who DOESN'T snowboard!?! oh I've NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE. Ugh.

Those announcers were embarrassing. Hire people who actually snowboard to mc events.

Way to go Rob! Camelback is a joke. Mountain Creek craps on the poconos.

nike how could you think camelback could step up and put on a event like breck or mt. high. The set up was cool for 2002, and gay rave lights dont make a shitty set up look cool. Maybe bring employees who arn't a bunch of so cal surfers. the whole contest was a joke, simple tricks being announced wrong..

Man that setup is beat, big ups for Nike trying to make something out of the mid-Atlantic but they couldn't have gone anywhere better? Holiday has mad snow and springs is building the urban park. These features are comically poor

snowboarding does not need light shows, fog machines, and techno music to be entertaining. this entire series is pretty disappointing. Nike should just go back to paying small indo-chinesse children 2 cents a day to make sneakers that are over priced and get out of snowboarding like the mark ass tricks that they are...
