Ben Bilodeau, Spencer Schubert, Sam Taxwood, Max Warbington, Gus Warbington, Blake Paul, Blake Geis, Sage Kotsenburg, Blaze Kotsenburg, Nils Mindnich, Hans Mindnich, Logan Beaulieu, Ben Ferguson, Gabe Ferguson, Connor Brown, Tucker Andrews, Lucas Wachs, and the rest of the Lick The Cat crew came to Superpark 16 on a mission to have the best week ever. By the looks of this loosely edited and even looserly shot video it appears as though their mission was accomplished. Keep an eye out for cameo's by Bob Plumb, Pat Moore and more.

Thus far, Superpark 16 Presented by Gatorade is shaping up to be one of the best of all time. Day two started off with similar weather to day one. No wind. No clouds. Plenty of sunshine. Needless to say that without the 300-plus person registration process, the Superpark 2012 attendees got right to business.
From nine to noon, the Seven Springs features got sessioned hard. Their two jumps–one at the top and one at the bottom– went off, with twenty-plus riders hiking and hitting the seventy-footer. Once again, Hans and Nils Mindnich proved to be the standouts on the top kicker with a plethora of moves that not only kicked off the session, but kept it going until lunch. Meanwhile, the monster booter constructed by Joel Rerko and his diligent staff was being lapped by about forty riders, including, but not limited to Seth Hill, Sage Kotsenburg, Sam Hulbert, Brandon Cocard, and Brendan Gerard. While Brendan emerged as the star rider (to me, at least), that’s not to take away from any of the other takers who pointed it at the behemoth. The photos from the jump may look fake, but the reality of the situation this morning can only conclude that snowboard park design and execution has hit an astronomical level.
Immediately after lunch, about twenty-five riders were hand-picked to get down on a private hip session. Said riders included Pat Moore, Garrett Warnick, Sam Taxwood, Seth Hill, Victor Simco, Blake Paul, Josh Dirksen, Robby Balharry, Ben Bogart, Forest Bailey, Dustin Craven, Ben Bilocq, Michael Gray, Austen Sweetin, Austin Hironaka, Kyle Lopiccolo, Brendan Gerard (who might have my vote for overall Superpark standout at the moment), Andrew Brewer, Hans and Nils Mindnich (who also might be current standouts), Phil Jacques and a few more. At the end of the afternoon jam, either Austen Sweetin or Dustin Craven went the highest on the hip, Sam Taxwood and Hans Mindnich almost stole the show with gigantic alley-oop front threes, while Austen Sweetin stomped some insane switch methods, but it was Garrett Warnick who walked away with the best trick (and best overall performance) when he sent an alley-oop back seven to the tranny. The crowd went wild and then piled out, except for a select few who were tapped for a sunset shoot on Seven Springs’ top jump and Boreal’s step-up.
As soon as the sun went down, twenty invited riders made their way to the top of the Superpark setup on the Seven Springs booter. Pat Moore, Garrett Warnick, Seth Hill, Brendan Gerard, Andreas Wiig, Scotty Vine, the brothers Mindnich, Colin Spencer, Tim Humphreys, Mitch Richmond, and more lapped the step down as the sun set over the valley in Bend. Superpark is all about sunset shoots, and the images that come from them, and needless to say, you'll see what we're talking about in the January issue of SNOWBOARDER Magazine.
There's three days of Superpark still to go, so keep checking back for all the info about Superpark 16 Presented by Gatorade live at Mt. Bachelor.

Day one of Superpark 16 got underway today, May 7th, at Mt. Bachelor, OR. Under windless skies and bluebird conditions, over 300 riders registered at the Sunrise Lodge starting at 8:30 a.m. and those who signed the waivers and release forms required to attend Superpark got right to it.
The four build teams–Mt. Bachelor, OR, Loon Mountain, NH, Boreal, CA, and Seven Springs, PA conjured up one of the best Superpark setups to date, including step overs, step ups, step downs, redirects, multi-use features, drops, bonks, and some seriously gargantuan cheese wedges. Needless to say that this year, Superpark is not for the faint of heart.
For most of the day, I was posted up on the Boreal step-up. Perpendicular to the rider’s right wall of the landing sits a 10-foot wallride with two hitching posts atop it and a chain connecting the posts. Standouts on the feature were Brendan Gerard, who I believe rode the best, Mitch Richmond, who put down a ridiculous double cork, last year’s Superpark 15 standout Scotty Vine, Kyle Lopiccolo, along with Scott Blum, Garrett Warnick, Jeff Kramer, and a handful of others who chucked double corks and hucked their meat on what might be the safest jump sitting on the slopes of Mt. Bachelor this year.
Hans and Nils Mindnich reaffirmed their presence at SNOWBOARDER events this year, and, after two of the best performances at The Launch a few weeks back at Bear Mountain, they’re well on their way to stepping up to the big leagues of Superpark. The brothers were the only ones to step to the beast, and with crazy tweaks, unique spins, and a plethora of style, they shut down the gigantic Loon jump. Loon, always known for pushing around the biggest piles of snow on the hill has done it once again with the most ominous and looming jump feature of the event.
Earlier in the day, the Seven Springs lane, which saw the most traffic of any today was sessioned by hundreds of riders. Seven Springs’ jumps are attainable, clean, and perfectly built, and the standout of the early afternoon session was Tim Humphreys with a perfectly stomped double cork. Seth Hill, who rode unbelievable well last year at Superpark also helped heat up the session. Forum teammates Austen Sweetin and Pat Moore also put down some tricks on the Seven Springs bottom jump.
French Canadian phemon Sebastién Toutant was lapping the Bachelor lane as well and he took it to the whiskey barrel jib with a frontside 540 nose tap, as well as Johnny O’Connor who landed a front three Indy nose tap. Brendan Rego also took off from the lip of the jib to the giant landing, which was one of the heaviest tricks done on Bachelor’s phenomenal feature.

For over a decade-and-a-half, Superpark has been the premier park event of the entire winter; a culmination and celebration of a season spent chasing storms and trolling cities. It has also been the subject of fact, fiction, legend, and lore, where heroes are made and stories are sometimes exaggerated. That's why our Editor Pat Bridges sat down to pen some stories behind some of the most influential imagery every to surface from Superpark. From Mammoth to Banff and Breck to Bachelor, have a peek at what makes SNOWBOARDER Magazine's Superpark so special in this exclusive gallery from some of the finest photographers of all-time. Stay tuned for part two.

Remember when snowboard contests were more about hanging out with friends than perfect scores and gold medals? Or when a double overhead method was cooler than a double cork? Now in its fourth year, Pat Moore and Waterville Valley have held Back to The Boneyard, a contest all about bringing together old friends and introducing new groms to exactly what snowboard culture is all about. The best part of the contest is that all the money raised goes to the Pat Moore Foundation, which helps support young riders from New England in pursuing their snowboard dreams by helping out with such things as travel expenses and tuition to Waterville Valley Academy.
Luke Mathison and the WV park staff created a classic Boneyard set up, with the luxury of a poma lift. The morning started off with a jump session that ended in an old style tabletop jump. Young guys like Zack Normandin, Merrick Joyce, Will Mayo and Brendon and Colin Hart had no problem figuring out the steep take off, and soon were throwing down everything from backside 180s to double backflips. Even local legends Jason Cheney and Nelson Wormstead were hitting the big line, showing the youth a thing or two about style. The second feature was a perfect rightside quarterpipe carved into the big table. The QP not only saw handplants of all kinds, mctwists and even a few airs, but also the crash of the day done by none other than Aaron Diamond. Hiking way past the other riders, Aaron dropped in and did a 12 foot backside air to bellyflop on the deck, earning himself a bloody nose, cracked rib and two possible broken wrists. The last part of the contest was an impressive rail garden with a long flat-drop-flat rail and a few propane tanks. There was some progressive riding during this section, including some standout tricks by Robert Connors, Graham Hoffman and Norah Healey
Each year at Back to the Boneyard the washed up division, brings together old friends who now have real jobs and families, but still love snowboarding. This year’s contest included a good old-fashioned downhill race from the top of Waterville to bottom of the park. As soon as it started, chaos ensued with a swarm of NH Dirts battling for the coveted first chair. After some friction with patrol and a high speed run down Psyched, Aaron Diamond, Ben Newton, Danny Garrity and Mike Baker were the first over the line, and the first to get their passes pulled.
The day ended with free PBR’s and prizes from the famous Quonset Hut, including a very large sword for the “King of the Boneyard.” It was an amazing day, filled with good friends and good snowboarding, and more importantly money was raised to help support the next generation of snowboarders. A huge thank you to Forum, Foursquare, Red Bull, Electric, Volcom, Waterville Valley and PBR for their support, as well as Jaime Cobbett and Kevin Bell for their damage control after the washed up race, the WV park staff for their hard work, and Pat Moore for reminding all of us why we started snowboarding in the first place.

There once was a time when jackets and pants touted as women’s riding wear was really just sized-down versions of the guys garb or anything pink. This meant that the ladies had to settle for anatomically ambiguous cuts and less-than-flattering colorways. Times have changed and now finding an ensemble that is not just functional but also fashionable is no longer a compromise.
In the Goods section of the November 2011 issue of SNOWBOARDER, the provocative lens of Peter Line exposes not only the dark and hairy underbelly of Johnnie Paxson but also the feminine side of many of today’s top male pros to prove that if this gear can make these mountain men look like the belles of the snowball, then they can turn a flatland 5 into a mountain town 10.
Check out this behind the scenes edit from Peter's photoshoot and make sure you pick up a copy of the November 2011 issue of SNOWBOARDER Magazine to see the photographic gold he captured.
