Line up at Superpark 14

Picture 1 of 15

Normally these dudes would be at the top of a jump sweating each other in hopes of climbing their way onto the podium. At Superpark everyone is just plain sweating. Temps hit 65 degrees at Superpark 14 on day one. To cool off many of the riders decided to jump because the builders told them all the landings were around 40 degrees. R: The lineup. P: E-Stone

Superpark 14 has officially kicked off. Windy conditions in Mammoth didn’t stop the 300-plus attendees from lapping a park that epitomized the reasons that SNOWBOARDER incepted this event. The build crews from Loon Mountain, NH, Mammoth Mountain, CA and High Cascade Snowboard Camp (yeah, we mean the legendary Olympic pipe cutter Pat Melandoski and crew) worked day and night for the past week to have the features dialed and come 10 o’clock, the riders were not disappointed. Gasps were heard when cresting over the knoll that allowed a complete view of Loon’s gargantuan jump. The park is one for the ages. Check the photos for further proof.

Day One is usually a mellow run or two through Superpark scoping features, checking speed and hanging out by the Gatorade tent, but I’ll be damned if I didn’t see Brandon Cocard backside rodeo Mammoth’s massive step down and Eric Willett follow immediately behind with a backside 7. Most of the riders did take it rather easy though. As the day started winding down, the park emptied out quick. Seemed like the participants were eager to go home and rest up for tomorrow, unless that rider happens to be Andrew Hardingham. Our 2010 Superpark host, imported directly from Canada, is here to get fucked up. On and off the hill.

Just a few shredders who showed up at registration are Sage Kotsenberg, Louie Fountain, Bryan Fox, Scotty Arnold, Tyler Flanagan, Harrison Gordon, Johnnie Paxson, Jonah Owen, Scotty Lago, Tim Humphreys, Chris Carr, Peter Line, Pat Moore, Jesse Burtner, Jess Kimura, Jamie Anderson, Heikki Sorsa, Scotty Blum, Lucas Magoon, Chris Bradshaw, Aaron Biittner, Kimmy Fasani, Eric Willett, Scotty Stevens, Jussi Oksanen, Halldór Helgason, Jonas Carlson and the list goes on. That’s only a small number of the hundreds of riders lapping Mammoth for the next few days. Stay tuned to snowboardermag.com for all of the exclusive videos, photos and write-ups that accompany one of the most progressive events of the year.

I don't know who this Bub Wicked is but if he's the Damn Commander then Lonnie Kauk is the Damn President. That dude will sh!t all over that Loon jump if he's out there....And I don't know about measuring booters but I measure my cack from the base to the tip of the helmet to maximize length so I'd probably measure from the lip off the jump to the tranny to maximize distance there as well -EastCoastKiller
