Superpark Showdown 2011: Volcom VS Sentury

July 6

//

The last round of 16 matchups of the Superpark® 15 Video Showdown presented by Gatorade has two final contenders dueling to continue on toward the $5,000 first place prize. Despite the fact that over 5,000 snowboardermag.com visitors have voiced their opinions to date via the “Like” style voting, we still feel compelled to recap the process by which you can decide the fate of one of these two Superpark® 15 filmmakers. Below each video featured here is an icon which presents an opportunity to “Like” the corresponding submission. Simply click the “Like” button for the edit you prefer. Voting will end 7/8/11 at 5PM PST.

This contest has ended and the “Like” buttons have been disabled. You can watch the vids at 300 pixels wide, or click the icon and watch them full screen once the video starts

Volcom
Though they may officially produce media under the Veeco Productions Moniker, there is no mistaking that classic Volcom style. Low-fi DIY documenting of insane shredding is what has made flicks like The Garden, Subjekt Haakonsen, and 9191 instant classics. In just 3 minutes and 20 Seconds, this video may encapsulate the best of what went down at Superpark® 15. From Farmer rapping at the awards, to Blum straight-arming the wall, to Ruiki imbibing edibles, high times were had by all. Too bad there isn’t a “love” button below because sometimes “like” just doesn’t cut it.

Sentury
With several last-minute entries bringing the number of Superpark® 15 Video Showdown submissions to beyond the 16 mark, SNOWBOARDER decided to have a Last Chance Qualifier on Facebook to see who would be granted the final spot. Three video producers were tasked with lobbying for the most likes in order to get the nod. Though it was heated, Lake Tahoe’s Nick Khattar and Sentury Snowboards narrowly edged out the other hopefuls. This edit contains a tongue-in-cheek narrative that looks to bring a lighter take on Superpark® 15 to the masses. Lighter is swell but this Showdown is about the “likes.”

sentury edit was the lamest edit that has been put out this year. a bunch of fags with very mediocre riding and the narrator just tops it off

  • Grahamm

so tight! sentury was hilarious, especially that guy “Showing forest bailey up”, but Volcom had farmer. Sickk riding on both edits though

Im going sentury, they just seemed so chill and like they were loving it all the time.

  • nwdiehard

the only good riding in that entire film was by kids who don’t ride for sentury. as for the sentury riders scott vine showed every one of you up one footed. dont hate on other riders, especially when you guys are absolutely horrible at snowboarding compared to everyone you hated on…

  • The Dali Llama

  • Chuck Schick

the contest should be called “Pros vs. Joes”

  • tahoein

sentury = the wackest, and this edit proves it. Hating on riders (for their clothing style) that are clearly ten times better than you only makes your gay little board company look bad. “Hey guys lets get to northstar before anyone else so we can do pushups before we train”

  • James

Did Sentury shoot on an iphone? I know ten year olds who could put together a better video. You all should be embarrassed to call yourself snowboarders. I wish I still had no idea your shitty company exists.

    Volcom killed it.

  • toy

  • keith

    they both suck

  • Tim Peare

Volcom, you had me at Farmer

  • Drew

Sentury, I’m sorry, but that was one of the worst edits I have ever seen in my life. 1) Looks like it was shot on an iPhone 2) You guys are really really crappy at snowboarding 3) You’re dissing riders who shit on your entire team 4) You’re dissing am riders who weren’t even there (Andrew Brewer, who is a million times cooler and better at snowboarding than anyone on your team) and 5) You’re snowboard company completely sucks balls. Good job guys, looks like this edit made people think you’re even gayer than you probably really are. Congrats!!
