With nearly four out of every five votes being cast in favor of America’s Videograss over Japan’s Amane Ohnta Week 7 of the Superpark Sunday Showdown presented by Gatorade amounted to your classic blowout. Some snowboard edit aficionados suspect that this is payback for America’s loss to Japan in the Beijing Olympic Gold Medal Softball game. This would make sense considering that softball won’t appear in the Olympics again until at least 2020 but The Superpark Sunday Showdown will be happening for at least another month. Oh and for the record the person who left a comment saying that Amane’s edit was made with iMovie is in fact an employee of Microsoft who is the publisher of Movie Maker 2.1.

Week 8 is now upon us and we have two more Superpark Sunday Showdown contenders, with 4 Reel going head-to-head against Helgasons.com. Vote for your favorite video and help them advance to the next round and potentially win $5,000 compliments of Gatorade. Voting is allowed each day, so check back to make sure your favorite is winning. Voting will end 8/6/10 at midnight.

We don’t really know what to say about this edit. These kids are good at camping and doing backside rodeos on stepdowns. They also did a crackerjack job of framing up the banners on the sides of the jumps. Might as well mention that the unit transfer into the Loon Spine Tingle was also pretty decent. Then again using of a knife for the shotgun was a bit too 2004, after all this is 2010 and thumb guns are king. That said there is something endearing about a crew of dudes just lapping and follow camming and wearing the free t-shirt they give out at registration because we assume everything else is too soiled by foamy beer!

Johannes Brenning might not have his name on the url but he has left his mark all over Helgasons.com. As the primary filmer for Eiki and Halldor Johannnes spent last season documenting their every antic. That journey brought him to Superpark 14 alongside Halldor. This video is one of the most anticipated Superpark Sunday offerings of the entire Showdown because of not just the hype around Halldor but also because they were ambitious enough to actually release a teaser for this edit two months ago! So sit back, better make it full screen by clicking the up left and down right arrows below and turn up the volume. Oh and the baja pullovers are DC’s tribute to Cinco De Mayo as are the cerveza’s. And the throwing up in the trees? That’s how you know it is May 6th!
