Superpark Showdown: Matt Roberge vs Think Thank

Superpark Sunday Showdown

Despite naming themselves after the first World Industries skateboard video and featuring the crème of the crop of New England’s new school kicker kids, Rubbish Heap couldn’t hold a candle to Nick Khater and Video Gypsy. This means that Video Gypsy will advance to face off against one of the following two videos in the next round of The Superpark Sunday Showdown. This next matchup looks to be an exciting one considering that the two men behind the featured edits have a longstanding relationship. Matt Roberge has been an instrumental filmer for Think Thank mastermind Jesse Burtner. This means that allegiances will be divided, IP addresses guarded and bribes dolled out like stomp pads at a Left Brain, Right Brain mini shred session.

Week 9.5 is now upon us and we have two more Superpark Sunday Showdown contenders, with Matt Roberge going head-to-head against Think Thank. Vote for your favorite video and help them advance to the next round and potentially win $5,000 compliments of Gatorade. Voting is allowed each day, so check back to make sure your favorite is winning. Voting will end 8/13/10 at midnight.

What’s your thoughts about this weeks contenders?

Matt Roberge
The 411 on the SixEleven Superpark Sunday Showdown against Matt Roberge is that clever crooning and a TM who can caveman slide while sloshed can’t overcome a no-frills edit where the riding is put front and center. Nonetheless, Mike Peterson and his pals put on a good fight and came within a hundred votes of Matt Roberge. Which leads us to wonder what kind of a man is Matt Roberge? The kind of man who stands behind his projects and puts them out there for the world to see under his own name. Roberge doesn’t hide behind some slick company header like Videograss, Variety Pack or Vivid. Matt’s Superpark short is a two-song escapade that is part homey video and part highlight reel. Standouts like Guldemond, Thompson, Craven, Swanson and Sorsa are spliced alongside Easties including Bailey, Hulbert, Langlois, Farrell and S.C.O. Dubs. Other notables include a 12-year-old Kyle Mack doing the largest air a kid his age ever has right to the knuckle where he proceeds to bounce into the second biggest air a kid his age has ever done. To top it off, Roobs also includes clips of Hana Beaman, Anne-Flore Marxer and Jamie Anderson!

Think Thank
Two songs is all it took for Jesse Burtner and his band of boarders to banish JTR Productions from this video competition. Though he’ll tell you that it is a collaborative effort, Jesse Burtner is the brains behind Think Thank. Since their first production Thunk in 2004, Burtner and company have changed the fabric of snowboard filmmaking by rewriting the rules. Think Thank is proof positive that great snowboarding and compelling footage needn’t be death defying, exotic, or the product of an astronomical budget. For the Superpark Sunday Showdown, Think Thank put this year’s two-disc epic Left Brain, Right Brain on the back burner for a few days to create an original short, titled 2 More, Skip The Last with a cast that includes Jason Robinson, Sam Hulbert, Nick Visconti, Ben Bogart, Sean Genovese and over a dozen other supporting players.

  • death

    Think Thank or die.

  • fair

I Just hope the people that vote are actually voting for which video they really think is better and not just cause they are more popular than the other, because they both are sick, but who ever lost better lost cause the other video was BETTER.

POTATOES AND GUMBALLS POTATOES AND GUMBALLS!
Oh wait, i mean “GO ROBERGE!”

  • Bill

I think Roberge’s edit was much better and not ruled by a video company. Im voting Matt

  • Ted

Think Thank’s edit was faster paced and exciting. got my vote.

  • SPG

This shouldn’t even be close. The Think Thank edit has style, variety, pacing, and quality. Matt Roberge is just a point and shoot in comparison. I’m sorry if Matt’s your homey, and if this was just a YouTube video I’d have nothing bad to say, but Matt’s video is just nowhere near being in the league of ThinkThank’s.
Vote for the better video. You know you’d pick ThinkThank’s video if there weren’t names attached to the edits.

  • danny

robergs vid would have bin better if he didnt use an over used song. and almost evrytime people use that song they do something artsy in the begenning. think thanks video was way better anyways

  • pick a winner

i came in wanted to root for the underdog, but the think thank edit made me want to go snowboard way more. the other edit just proves that you can have the sickest riders in the world but if you edit their footage poorly its just not entertaining. too choppy for me, too many quick hits and random shots.

  • loobs

i cant wait for video gypsy to win this whole fucking competition

  • ThinkTankThinksThankThanksStank

Roberge uses subtle style and tactful technique. Jesse resorts to 7 mins of exactly what you expected and nothing you really care about. Lame ass music to.

  • Broner

These are the edits that should have been in the final round.

  • Ballard Bob Boy

Think Thank earns my vote because this video is excellent and just so much better than the competion. Fast paced, exciting snowboard action marks this Burtner slick action number. Jesse scores again big time! Think Thank’s riders and crew prove once again that they rate a standing applause. Just like Gatorade is my drink of choice — Think Thank’s Snowboard action is the “Top Gun”, King of the Hill, thirst quencher! Go Brain!

  • skate4515

  • skate4515
