Is it not illegal to go into the woods and start chopping down tree’s and building things? I’m pretty sure if I tried that someone would of called the police. I don’t know why someone would be wrecking your spot but thats seems wrong also, unless its just some local hippies with chainsaws and sawzalls but who carries all that around with them. well glad your legit now seems a bit safer also

These assholes are a joke. I understand what they’ve done for the sport and their legacy, but you guys are in your 30s. Grow up. They put a bunch of rails on probably the busiest traverse in the Wasatch… like literally directly off it, then put locks all over them. Either one, find a different private spot that isnt on brighton resort OR dont lock them. its a piece of metal, you are a 30 something yr old professional snowboarder, get over it. Also, for anyone who wants to hit their rails and blow up their spot, go to brighton resort, take the great western lift and go into hidden canyon. Take the traverse out and after a bit they are on the right side. There is a D-F-D, down rail, flat rail, some stalls and some other dumb shit.
http://absolutejibberish.com/ Jibberish
You should read the article. We have permission, from Brighton, to put the rails exactly where they are. “Busiest traverse in the Wasatch” is a bold claim and shows how uninformed you are. Why is it such a strange concept to lock up your personal possessions? Your a jerk for locking up you car and not letting me drive it. it’s just a piece of metal. I guess because we are 30 something none of these points are valid though. Thanks for giving out directions. The location was never meant to be secret. It’s on the resort! People will find it! SMH…
Your Skier Friend
haha ok, please name me a more used (out of bounds) traverse in utah? You dont see the hundreds of people going out hidden every day? Locking up your possessions is fine, placing them in public land and locking them isnt Itd be like building a swing in a park and locking it and then yelling at the 10 yr olds trying to have fun on it (your car analogy is possibly the most retarded thing ive ever heard). Whether this is JP or Jeremy, it doesnt matter, because either way, you’re both dumb. Brighton MAY have given you permission to use their fire roads to bring the rails in, but that isnt brighton land. Also, if it is SANCTIONED by brighton, that means that if someone gets worked on your dumb fucking locks, they can be sued and held liable. How about you take the locks off and let some kids have fun. You guys were heroes to so many kids before it became publicly known that your all douches.
cry me a river
If you parked your car in my driveway and kept it locked you would be a dick. Same situation as this. Also, are you seriously arguing that that is not one of the busiest, if not the busiest traverse in the wasatch??? Have you ever ridden out of bounds? I know you have so I think you know that that jis an extremely busy traverse. You don’t that putting locked rails on a traverse highway is a dick move??? Really??? Also, if it was never meant to be a secret, then why lock them and why tell people to stay out?
washed up
“never meant to be secret” why the locks then? why does everyone need to be warned and stay out? you guys are fucking idiots
^retard
How can Brighton give you permission to put rails on land they don’t own? I know Brighton leases the resort from the USFS but that would only include the inbounds resort terrain. Brighton may be aware of what you did, but be careful saying it’s sanctioned by Brighton. And if it is why are there locks?
“Why is it such a strange concept to lock up your personal possessions?” ; “Thanks for giving out directions. The location was never meant to be secret. It’s on the resort! People will find it!” So you want people to find it but not be able to ride it? People must think your so fucking cool.
Ben
@ Jibberish: Jeremy, I ran into you and your wife the end of bike season in the parking lot in Draper @ Corner Canyon. Any idea if B town will let you / us build a trail for some freeride biking in the summertime? I’d bet we could build stuff that’s legit for the bike and the board.
Birdrider
I honestly don’t understand why you guys have such a problem with people hitting your rails. It’s just a piece of metal… Cheap metal at that. And it’s not like it takes a rocket scientist to weld one together. I understand It takes alot of effort but try to remember who writes your checks. You are pro snowboarders and get paid to do nothing other than snowboard. Try giving back to the community that has given you so much by employing you for the past 20 years.
If you are trying to prevent them from being stolen, why not anchor them to the ground?
You also act like someone has a personal vendetta against you. The forest service has been tearing down everyone’s man-made features for years now. They’re probably getting sick and increasingly angry at your childish antics.
To everyone else that frequents gaurdsmans (especially skiers). You could use a little tact when hitting these spots. Do some maintenance on spots when you get there. Shovel some snow. There’s way to many kids that just show up and wreck the spot and do nothing to repair it. Skiers literally are OK with landing on rocks.
Guest
please dont glorify this shithead move by these guys. If they wanted to find a “secret” spot to put their rails and lock them up, cool… i respect that. They put rails literally feet from brighton resort on arguably the busiest traverse in all the wasatch. Not off the traverse, pretty much on it. Thats cool, rails on a traverse that sees a few hundred people a day… but wait… though they are right in the open they are LOCKED. Cool. You guys are in your 30s and are professional snowboarders, yet you’re still cutting shit down in national forest land and locking rails like some territorial 12 yr old. Grow the fuck up. You know who “vandalized” your spot? The fucking forest service, they tore down all the spots up in guardsman. I’m really considering posting exactly where this new “spot” is in hopes that it gets torn down again. I love hitting rails, I just hate these douches. 4 seasons back we were sliding the d-f-d in guardsman when Jeremy and Seth showed up… you’d think theyd be stoked to ride with some people who were their fans and that we groomed the entire place…. they kick us out and were dicks. If you would like to know where the spot is… take the great western lift at brighton. From there… there is really only one traverse it could be on. Have fun and burn that shit.
http://www.facebook.com/scott.bowen.5205 Scott Bowen
Animosity probably came when you locked things up. That’s like building a perfect backcountry kicker and smashing it after you’re done with it, not cool. Even worse that someone thrashed the place. If it were me, I’d have just cut the locks, rode it, and left a note of thanks with some beers. If you’re using it, leave something for the people who put the hard work in, you know. Locking it was kinda uncool, trashing the place was REALLY uncool.
I do wonder if it was some hippys or national park rangers who didn’t like you cutting trees down and stuff. May not have been any boarders at all.
Cry me a river!
Oh no, you’re super exclusive spot is now gone!!! maybe people weren’t down with you having a park on national forest (public land) that was a 10 minute walk from a parking area that you wouldn’t allow anyone to hit. You guys always had the rails locked and if you ever found anyone up there you would kick them out and threaten them. There are so many “private” parks in the area that the people who built them would rather a ton of people don’t ride them, but they still understand that its public land and they can’t make people not come. I personally had an encounter with two of the dudes from this elite and old pro crew come up on their sleds, tell us we had to go and if were caught back there “blows would be thrown” – keep in mind this was said by a couple of 30+ year old super pros to 22 year old kids just trying to hit a rail early season. I personally did not vandalize the park, nor do i condone vandalism, but I honestly feel that karma might have finally come their way.
Also JP and friends, good choice in placement of your new park… putting it 50 feet away from a ski trail and still locking the rails is nice and low profile for you. Did you guys seriously think that was a good secret spot? Your new spot is on a traverse highway! How did you not know this? GAPERS! Well, i guess I can’t complain too much because I now get to hit your rails via chairlift, so thanks for that. And your locks arn’t stopping anyone, can slide right over that shit!
doosh bags
Fully sanctioned by Brighton eh? Definitely in National Forest you dumbasses! But regardless, putting your new “private park” at/near a Brighton and still telling people to stay the fuck out is a dick move that made me lose my last bit of respect for these washed up ski bladers. You guys know that it is basically on a trail right? You can’t keep people out of their nor should you!
Your Skier Friend
so… if its fully sanctioned by brighton, i can go fall on that rail, hurt myself on your dumb lock… and sue right? Oh wait I cant, because it isnt actually sanctioned.
physicsshred
you’re so dumb, it’s literally unberable. I don’t know why so many americans think they can sue people over their own physical and mental inability. Any judge will laugh his ass off. But then, maybe you find a judge as smart as you and you can make somethin happen…
To all other haters:
build your own stuff if you want to have a preseason shred. You guys think, that downloading a song or a video from the internet for free entitles you to have the same in real life. not true.
personal note:
we destroy every backcountry jump after we got the shot and we’re just amateurs.
http://absolutejibberish.com/ Jibberish
You know Brighton Resort is also on Forest Service land too right? We aren’t making this up. The Spot is at Brighton and they know it and gave us permission. We never told anyone to stay the fuck out either. Not sure where all this is coming from.
Your Skier Friend
locking all the rails isnt some passive aggressive way of telling people to stay the fuck out? Kind of like when you threatened to fight me when I was sliding your d-f-d in guardsman too, right?
your skier hater
you definitely deserve a few blows. especially if you’re a skier.
yourlogicisjibberish
Didn’t know you guys changed your attitude to be so accommodating. In the past you have kicked anyone out that went there. Figured the locks meant you guys still felt the same way. The way I see it, is it would have been hard to put your rails in a more
public place. Almost anywhere else would have been more hidden. Locking
the rails almost in bounds is a slap in the face.
Your Skier Friend
ha, also… posting pictures of your “old spot” and pictures of Jeremy and Seth with chainsaws cutting trees in Natl. Forest Land isnt really smart. Last I checked thats a 10k fine. Now that your career is over and the snowboard cash aint flowin’ you better be careful.
Functioningbrain
This is pretty much the best comment on this entire thread
imsocool
Ya remind us how this is sanctioned by brighton? Its not on there land, also if they sanctioned it wouldn’t they be responsible when someone hurts them selves cause you lock your rails like a 6th graders locker? This groups attitude does not embody the culture of the community and there is no place for it.

Prohibited Uses
structures. Anything made by humans that is intended for human occupation and is left behind when the builder leaves the wilderness. It is immaterial to this definition whether building materials are found in the wilderness or brought into the wilderness. “Structures” include, but are not limited to: cabins, lean-tos, and constructed tent pads.
Functioningbrain
Wow….. I don’t know which makes the guys in this article bigger douchebags – the whole “we haze prospects” aspect, or the “we put a buncha shit on public land and get mad when the public touches it” aspect.
Functioningbrain
I can’t even get over the fact you tards are using the word “prospect”….
I can just imagine what you idiots were like In your younger years. “STOP TOUCHING MY GI JOES OR I’M GOING TO TAKE ALL MY TOYS AND GO HOME!”
commonsense
I should go out there with a plasma cutter and chop up all your locks and rails – then write an article about how I keep finding these ruined spots in the woods full of scrap and apparently squatters
Scrotermcboogerballs
Dear JP Walker, shut the fuck up
bestskieratsnowbird
this stuff looks like shit anyway, like a stash park gone retarded. who even gives a fuck, let these assholes jerk each other off in the woods as much as they want.
iusedtoownyourpromodel
Locking rails and kicking people out of spots seems pretty counterproductive to snowboarding in general. Are you guys the ones knobbing all the rails in the city too? How are you guys any different than the security guards that kick you out of spots and ruin your shots?
Jaron
I remember reading that some of this stuff was locked up to keep people from stealing it. Not riding it. Stuff was stolen in the past so they put it on lock down. So that it wouldn’t get stolen…. The people that are destroying this stuff are the same types of clowns that destroy cars and snowmobiles that break down on back roads.
duh
you can lock a rail in place without keeping people from hitting it. A U lock over the rail doesn’t stop anyone from stealing it, you could steal the rail with the lock attached no problem. chain it to a tree if you don’t want it to get stolen. the locks are clearly fun spoilers
Java
It’s sort of strange that people are freaking out about this so much.
voltron
Maybe you guys should all shut the hell up and realize what this crew did for the sport. Pretty much bringing the rail scene back. So I would say they can do whatever the hell they want with their own rails, stop being bitter little bitches and complaining about not being able to hit their rail. go get your own rails and your own spot if you want to hit stuff
guest
what they are doing for the sport? their locks are knobs and they are the police. i respect all that they did for snowboarding, but i don’t think they still believe in what they used to and don’t appreciate snowboarding for what it is. putting their park on a pretty major traverse and not allowing people to use it is dick. there are so many parks in the same general area that kids built and are not about to throw blows if people shred it. i’m someone who appreciated them so much i’ve owned some of their pro models, had posters of them all over my walls, but now that i’ve experienced this bullshit first hand i feel differently. also, i don’t think anyone would be bitching if they weren’t being glorified by this article.
Guest Hater
@guest get a life bro. Sounds like they don’t want little mark ass bitches like yourself hittin what THEY took the time to set up. No build = no ride is probably the mentality behind it.
guest
valid point. i can understand that for sure. which is why not having it at a ski resort where tons of people ride it everyday make a lot more sense.
Derrrrrr
It’s out of bounds as far as Brighton terrain but accessible via a lift. Who cares if people know where it’s at. They lock it up so no one can’t hit it and when they wanna ride it they take the chairlift and remove the locks. That sounds pretty damn ideal to me.
http://absolutejibberish.com/ Jibberish
Why not go tool up the old spot. It’s just sitting there abandoned. Have at it. There are even some rails still there. Happy now? No, didn’t think so.
bonezone
“Despite the drama, the tradition continues.” JP, or Jibberish or whatever, you ever notice that drama always seems to follow YOU around and not other people? YOU are the common denominator here, not the various people you end up pissing off.
P.S. Your completely switch part was fucking sick, but you still need to chill out.
http://www.facebook.com/steezyrider Cody Lorentz
i’m not one to comment on this stuff but as good friend of the Jibberish crew, you guys need to get your facts straight. Jeremy Seth and JP not to mention many others work hard for their jobs harder than most. the spot has inspired many kids to rise up and build their own spots to shred and without these clips and dispatches from JP you could kiss a whole generation of shredders down. dont screw with the spot or you’ll be screwing with brighton. to the kids out there start grinding away your own spots learn the work ethic that these guys have maybe one day they’ll be your mentors. i know that these guys taught more about myself and my future in snowboarding and now i will have a spot of my own on oil and gas industry land if they tear it down so be it i’ll build it tougher and better till no one touches it.
Frank
You guys are Crying about a couple rails and talking about sueing people. Get a grip, the younger generation is in sad shape. Go turn your snowboards and smile.
Billy Hogan
It sure ain’t no BONEZONE!!!
http://absolutejibberish.com/ Jibberish
This is really entertaining. Hard to believe peeps are getting so chapped. Didn’t realize so many skiers troll the snowboarder message boards. We have a tiny sliver of land we use while Brighton has a perfectly maintained park and an entire mountain of the worlds best natural features but that’s not enough for you. Not all our features are even locked at The Spot. Some were locked because they hadn’t even been completely installed yet. Most of the time we spend there is before the lifts/resort is even open. Everything is buried there now and we have been gone for weeks but you are still upset about something that doesn’t even exist. You should go out with your friends and create your own place and and take pride in something and learn a few things about hard work and life instead of shrieking like a bitch at others because of what they have created. What have you ever done that is so great? No one over here is crying. Just the opposite. This article is simply a breakdown of what and how it all went down. We got dealt a hand and this how we played it. It’s easy for you all to talk big on the internet but the reality is you just ski by everyday with your head down scared to look and wonder why you have it so hard. Sack up for once and make something happen or fall back.
thephysicsshred
word. just ask a farmer for a few squares of land next season and shoot the ****ers who dare to come there.
lots of crying babies in here who cant hold a shovel for 5 minutes.
fosho some skier haters who destroyed the old spot. rangers would have gone for your names…
Ray Pist, you are the dumbest person on this message board for posting that. Haters gonna hate though.
BKSports
So this is what “the sport” has turned into? Hey JP, you probably don’t know me because you think all the cool shit in snowboarding started with you. It didn’t. You clowns give snowboarders and humans in general a bad name. We had a place back in the late 70s and early 80s that influenced snowboarding for real, SON. It was called the Tahoe City Halfpipe, maybe you heard of it, but probably not because all the cool shit started with you, right? Anyway, we had to shovel for 4-5 hours to get the inrun just right, because we didn’t have edges and shit like you sissies. I’ll tell you what, JEREMY, we had people from high school and all points SOUTH showing up to our spot. They didn’t help shovel, but they dropped in and ruined the hours of shovel work. Guess what, BOYS? We didn’t kick anyone out. We didn’t argue or fight or threaten, that would be petty and immature. We just groaned and started shoveling again. I am so glad neither of you morons were around back in the day, you would have been the laughingstock for your bad vibes and lame attitudes. I am also glad to say you never inspired me, I have only heard story after story about you and your bad vibes at camps and now in the woods. I’d guess you want to beat me up at this point, go for it. I am a non violent, mellow snowboarder from Tahoe. North Tahoe. South Lake is where the fighters live. I’m sure you can figure out who I am, so come get me and beat my 48 year old ass to prove that your spot is secure. I know you guys are good snowboarders, you have yet to show you are good people.
