the launch iconIt’s enormous. Jutting out from the Three Kings arm, looming above downtown Park City, Jeremy Cooper and his crew of talented PC pushers have sculpted a grip of features that would rival any built at Superpark. A slew of rail features lead into a massive step up, which direct the underage riders toward a treacherous channel gap. Following the first two jumps immediately are an 80 foot step down equipped with a monstrous wedge. Then there’s the hip, in direct view of chairlifters, and it funnels into a 22-foot quarterpipe. It’s perfection personified in modern-day park building.

5 Yosh Sage

On Tuesday night, March 29th, do you know what Sage Kotsenburg was doing? He was doing a night shoot at Sun Valley with Eric Willett, Blaze Kotsenburd and @TWSnow. Do you know how we know that? Twitter. 'Night shoot at sun valley with Eric Willett, Blaze kotsenburg and @TWSnow'. r: Sage Kotsenberg p: Mike Yoshida

The world’s best under-18 shredders descended upon Park City this morning. The sun was out. The wind was minimal. And the action didn’t disappoint, which is par at this prestigious platform event. Riders like Mark McMorris, Tyler Flanagan, Sage Kotsenburg, Sebastien Toutant and Trevor Jacob have laid the foundation of their careers at The Launch, and this year, while the majority of the aforementioned are also in attendance, a new wave of next generation rippers have showed up to show the world what’s in store for Mr. White in Sochi.

3 Baker Luka Jeromel

In 1987 the song Luka by Suzanne Vega hit #3 on the Billboard Charts. In 2011 Luka Jeromel hit this tree gap on a snowboard and it was off the charts. r: Luka Jeromel p: Jeff Baker

I would have to say that the heaviest session went down on the hip this afternoon. Sebastién Toutant went the biggest, but giving him a run for his money were Spencer Whiting, Kevin Backstrom, Stefan Krum, Garrett Warnick, Cam Fitzpatrick, and Hand Mindnich. 20-foot airs were tossed. Crazy tweaks were set down, and a few looser-than-normal backflips were hucked by Stefan. All in all, it was a pretty heavy day for riders who were just warming up.

4 Stone Zander

Zander Blackman has the coolest name at The Launch, but if we're being honest, it's not quite as cool as Zeppelin Zeerip. Front board through the donkey dick. r: Zander Blackman p: E-Stone

The remainder of the field sessioned on all features all day long, and the rest of the standouts are too many to mention. That’s what videos are for. All I’m doing is letting you know that these kids are for real, and on top of that, they’re hungry. Watch the video. Check out the galleries. And have a look at the next big things. Stay tuned to snowboardermag.com for exclusive daily updates.

2 Stone Krumm

Stefan Crumm looked upset when he didn't land tricks at The Launch, but we just told him that that's the way the cookie Crummbles. r: Stefan Krumm p: E-Stone

6 Baker Nick Julius

Did you know that Nick Julius is the great great grandson of famed smoothie entrepreneur Orange? r: Nick Julius p: Jeff Baker

Corduroy is a textile composed of twisted fibers that, when woven, lie parallel (similar to twill) to one another to form the cloth's distinct pattern, a 'cord'. Modern corduroy is most commonly composed of tufted cords, sometimes exhibiting a channel (bare to the base fabric) between the tufts. Corduroy is, in essence, a ridged form of velvet. p: Mike Yoshida

8 Huggy Broc

Broc is surely 'Waring' those pink pants well...for a dude. r: Broc Waring p: Huggy

1 Stone Ben

If you're a keen snowboard enthusiast, we're sure you've noticed that there's a creeper in the foreground of this photo, just below Ben Bilodeau doing a frontside 50-50 to front 3. The not-so-keen snowboard enthusiast might not know that there's also a creeper in the background of this photo also. His name is Huggy, and he's shooting with a really, really long lens. r: Ben Bilodeau p: E-Stone

Modern architecture is all about lines. In this Dutch Modern home, it's obviously all about the double lines. p: Mike Yoshida

11 Stone Hans

Hans Mindnich is a hip man. That's cool and all, but we're more into boobs. r: Hans Mindnich p: E-Stone

12 Huggy Hans

Hans Mindnich's overhead tailgrab on the hip was rad, but we're more worried about the kid in the red sweatshirt who seems to be all tangled up in the trees in the bottom right of this photo. r: Hans Mindnich p: Huggy

'Tombstone' is better as a movie than a takeoff. r: Hans Mindnich p: Jeff Baker

Im so fucking glad kings goes to the highest bidder instead of the people who actually ride the mountain every day. Monster Bag session was a joke and FIS was only 1 week. Yet kings was open for probably less than a month total and was never changed for the public. Now The Launch and ooo PC says they will keep some of the special features up for the public. WOOO woopty freakin do. Way to look like you give a fuck when actually all you are really saying is “yeah we won’t tear it all down until closing but we sure as hell arn’t building anything for you.” FUCK YOU PC, I wish I rode Park City back in 06 when It was actually the best park. Looks like snowboarding needs to grab its shit and move to colorado.

  • RE:Parkcitylocal

Hey so-called “PC Local” — if you knew ANYTHING about what it costs to build, rig and maintain a park like kings crown or even three kings, you may just shut your filthy little mouth. The snowcats that are required to build a phenomenal park like the ones at PC cost a cool quarter-mil EACH. The groomers that slave over those parks during the dead of night so that your ungrateful (and probably sloppily untalented) ass can ride them ALL have to attend a grooming camp during the summer and put up with bullshit bureaucratic resort runners during the winter. They have to fall within the budget given them and perform to both a fussy public’s standard and their rich sponsors’ standards. They stand in that park and shovel, rake and sweat away to make sure that upkeep is perfect and the lips launch at the right angle so as to help YOUR fat ass keep it’s force… All for somewhere around $13 and $20 an hour, without benefits. So before you rag on a resort that not only keeps its’ parks absolutely impeccable, grow the fuck up, get a real job and take a look at the business side of life before you shake someone else down. Shit, I’m not a groomer or a park rat or even a resort employee — but I know the fellas in that park and in those cats and they’re good dudes. They try their hardest and the sponsors pay out a hell of a lot more than your parents spent on your measly season pass. If you love Colorado so much, YOU pack up and take a hike… Or shit, just go to the Canyons park and you’ll be PUMPED on what PC gives you. Take it or leave it, but leave PC alone. Your attitude sucks.

  • RE: RE: Parkcitylocal

In all honesty man your logical sense is correct but have you actually ridden PC at all this year? Complete shit. This year has been the worst it has ever been in the past 5 years. You would think they would hire cat drivers who actually knew how to build features and jumps that are flat and most of all drive “quarter-mill machines”. Your whole paragraph made sense but if your claiming yourself to not be a park rat or someone who rides in these parks at least 4 days a week, get the hell out of here, your reply to a perfectly acceptable rant is unnecessary. I know for sure I will be on PCs ass all year until their park is what they always claim “Top 10″. Top 10 my ass, I know parks in the Midwest that have safer jumps and better park maintenance. Our attitude might suck but when this has been going on the the past few years, honestly I am completely fed up. PC needs to get its shit together.

Dam that kid spencer is boosting! He’s got dubs now! Spencer, Seb, Hans, and Hunter are killing it

  • you have to live in pc to be a local.

anyone from salt lake that claims to be a local is not. to be a local you need to support your town and resort. What ever happend to having fun no matter what your rideing? if you hate it then why do you keep coming back for more? every park in the world is dope. what ever happend to just having fun on the one flat stock straight rail or a 20 foot jump? think about what the sport was doing 10 years ago. Also the number of people who actually hit kings this year during the time it was open is probly equivilant to how many days it was open. Park city gives its park the worst places to build. everyone saying keystone and breacks parks are legit…think about how much space there is in those parks….a shit load. we have no space to build anything. if yall want long take offs and long landings im sure they can take that 3 jump line and turn it into one perfect jump. or they can build 3. either way anyone complaining about a park obvously isen’t having fun. and they should ask there mommy if she would pay for them to go to school in colorado instead. and buy them a pass to the mountain of thier dreams. IF YOU HATE PARK CITY THEN DONT FUCKING COME. CANYONS IS 3 MILES CLOSER FOR YOU SALTY FOOLS.
