On February 18th, 2010, at Cypress Mountain, BC, she shocked the world…but it was no shock to snowboarding. The media had the mainstream convinced that the Americans would sweep the podium with some sort of Kelly/Gretchen/Hannah mix-up in the top three spots, but those in the know were more than alert to the fact that a young Australian named Torah Bright was the favorite going into the Games. What Kelly may have in amplitude, Torah touts in technicality, and as Bright’s airs got bigger, so did our hopes that she would finally take home a gold medal. And then she did. Torah’s since been touring the world with her hardware, frequenting photo shoots for myriad projects, and even got married to long-time fiancé and Forum frontman Jake Welch.
