The 2010 Ride Shakedown US finals can best be described as a battle of will, as in “will they land” or “will it start snowing” or “will that girl puke!”

Saturday March 13th, 2010 started out as an uncharacteristically bluebird day at Snoqualmie with heaps of weekend warriors enjoying the warm temps and sunny skies. Sure enough as soon as the semi finals began at noon the skies went gray with clouds and fog. Throughout the rest of the semi’s the weather wouldn’t cooperate and in turn the three-hour jam session was plagued by slow runways and spotty visibility. In turn the unique Shakedown format, which involves riders calling out which two of their runs would be judged, proved bittersweet for those who chose to not take advantage of the considerably less trying conditions encountered during the first hour.

Despite the speed issues the elite Shakedown semi-finals field persevered and performed to world-class standards. Sixteen men and five women were chosen to again jam for an hour in the nighttime finals. Thankfully the skies cleared for the big show. Unfortunately, the faster runways and better visibility of the finals didn’t translate to more landings. While there were nearly a dozen double corks chucked, not one competitor would stomp this trendy trick. This meant that more stock moves, like cab 9’s, would rule the day. Check the video for all of the action.
