SNOWBOARDER MAGAZINE CONTINUES THE NEW ONE HIT WONDER SERIES WITH THE 2nd STOP AT SIERRA-AT-TAHOE ON MARCH 12TH, 2011

SNOWBOARDER Magazine proceeds to Sierra-at-Tahoe on its 2nd of 3 events just for the huck of it. The One Hit Wonder Tour is a unique new showdown specifically tailored for those riders who consider combos a snack and the act of linking tricks thinking too far ahead.

“Sierra at Tahoe has a rich history of rider talent from legend Shaun Palmer to current shred star Jamie Anderson,” said SNOWBOARDER Publisher Chris Engelsman. “It’s only natural that we bring the One Hit Wonder Tour to their resort and provide a venue for the local riders to showcase their skills.”

The first stop on the tour took place on March 5th, 2011 at Pennsylvania’s largest ski and four season resort, Seven Springs. With no natural snow in sight, Seven Springs provided a breathtaking layout of great trails and mouthwatering parks. Blazing down epic laps such as “The Alley” one is reminded of the spirit that gets snowboarders so hooked to snowboarding. The Pennsylvanians know how to build a fun, creative atmosphere that keeps everyone reloading that chair time after time.

The setup that the Seven Springs park staff fashioned for the event was a combo pad including a hitching post, downrail and flatbox/polejam over the gap that would be sure to please the most talented of riders. Jake Jones’ thrilling display of riding helped the judges make an easy decision when it came to picking a winner for the day. Following him in the rankings it would be local thug Clint Cooper taking second with huge gaps where gaps didn’t exist. Paul Filippi’s rail techniques landed him in third for the day. The format for the One Hit Wonder series has been simplified to reward gusto over strategy and the setup is one of a kind. Instead of a series of obstacles combining for an elaborate course, The One Hit Wonder Tour focuses on a single multi-option feature, which allows riders to distinguish themselves via creativity. 3 judges will base their decisions on the single best tricks of each Jam.

“At SNOWBOARDER we see a lot of events that lack focus,” said SNOWBOARDER Editor, Pat Bridges. “Why set up multiple jumps, hips and rails all over a slope when you can combine them into a single dynamic setup? With the new One Hit Wonder series SNOWBOARDER aims to reward the riders who can get creative and pick apart a solo feature.”

Like SNOWBOARDER’s successful Superpass Series each One Hit Wonder stops are free but only open to the first 50 registrants on a first come, first serve registration basis. This means arrive early and ready to ride. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian on hand to sign release forms and huck buckets, aka, helmets, aren’t an option, they are MANDATORY!
