SNOWBOARDER MAGAZINE’S SUPERPARK 15 PRESENTED BY GATORADE COMES TO MT BACHELOR, OREGON MAY 9TH – 13TH, 2011

For 15 years SNOWBOARDER Magazine has brought the premier park riders in the world together to work with the top terrain park builders in North America to create a one-of-a-kind annual event with Superpark®. After a decade-and-a-half of progressing the level of inbounds trickery and terrain, SNOWBOARDER has partnered with a new host resort at Mt. Bachelor, Oregon and set the stage for another historic Superpark®. Joining Mt. Bachelor in the creation of Superpark® 15 presented by Gatorade are the talented creators of the acclaimed snowboard parks at Seven Springs, PA, Copper Mountain, CO, Boreal, CA, Killington, VT, and Mt. Hood’s High Cascade Snowboard Camp.

“Superpark® is unlike any other event in snowboarding. It was created fifteen years ago to give the most skilled snow movers in the game an opportunity to match their vision of what elite terrain can be with those riders most able to tackle these next-level jumps, hips, jibs and transitions with skill, style and confidence,” said Pat Bridges, Editor of SNOWBOARDER Magazine. “We simply brought these entities together and gave them all the best tools to ply their trade without the constraints found in a contest setting or a public access park. In turn, riders like Kurt Wastell, Travis Rice, Pat Moore, and Lonnie Kauk have been able to let loose and enable SNOWBOARDER to document some all-time riding.”

Three hundred professional snowboarders, photographers, filmers and industry supporters are set to take to the Mt. Bachelor Superpark® 15 setup from May 9th – 13th, 2011. Included in this esteemed invite-only roster are snowboarding icons Tyler Flanagan, Bode Merrill, Devun Walsh, Laurent Nicolas Paquin, Jamie Anderson, Iikka Backstrom, Lonnie Kauk, Terry Kidwell, Bryan Fox, Kevin Jones, and Chas Guldemond, as well as media representatives from ESPN, Standard Films, Grind TV, Fuel TV, and PEOPLE.

As the 6th largest ski area in North America, Mt. Bachelor has more than enough terrain and logistical resources to host such a grand gathering yet it is their extended season and astounding snowpack which makes it ideally suited to host Superpark® 15. According to Dave Rathbun, Mt. With Superpark® 15, SNOWBOARDER is introducing the Superpark® Pit Day on Saturday May 14th, 2011. The Superpark® Pit Day will be a ride along festival where Mt. Bachelor locals get the opportunity to lap alongside the pros, grab autographs, dabble in aerial heroics on the BagJump, and enjoy live music at the West Village Base Area.

After a successful debut in 2010, the Superpark® Showdown video contest will be returning to Snowboardermag.com. The original head-to-head elimination video battle will once again feature polished edits of the best Superpark® action with Superpark® 15’s presenting sponsor, Gatorade, rewarding the winning film crew with 5 g’s. “There is no other snowboard event like Superpark and Gatorade is thrilled to continue its support for a third year now,” said Carla Hess, Action Sports Team Manager, Gatorade. “The riders that attend Superpark work hard, putting in five solid days of riding, shooting and filming and having Gatorade on hand definitely helps them stay hydrated and on point.” In addition to the prize being presented to the Showdown victor, Gatorade will also be rewarding the Superpark® 15 and Ms. Superpark® “Go All Day” standouts with checks of their own.
