Gravis Footbed Artwork

11/25/03 - Press Release

Footbed artwork has become a staple in Gravis' shoe line, complementing the exterior design of the sport inspired casual shoes. This detail adds another dimension in creating truly unique shoes with a custom print from a select group of artists. For the Spring Summer 2004 line, Gravis Footwear worked with Heavyweight Production House, Diskah, and P-Nut for their ongoing artist footbed collaboration.

The Heavyweight Production House, based in Montreal, Canada, is a group of like-minded artists who united back in 1998. Under the direction of Tyler Gibney and Gene Pendon (aka Gene Starship) with artist Dan Buller (aka DSTRBO), Hvw8 art has exceedingly become a prominent name within the urban art scene. Through their painting and design work, Hvw8 draws its inspiration equally from art and music, blurring the line between the two, and capturing the raw energy and spontaneity coming from clubs, parties, musicians and DJ's. Heavyweight has created a following of devoted artisans who create some of today's most progressive art with an inimitable style.

A renowned artist in Japan, Diskah is slowly creeping into the global art scene through his uncanny ability to create unique pieces with a style all his own. Diskah's work has ties to his roots in boardsports, art, and music. His art has graced the pages of magazines like Thrasher Japan, Transworld Skateboarding Japan, Ollie and SB Magazine. Additionally, his eye for design has led him to delve into fashion, where he has made designs for clothing lines Dakota, Spaz, Med, Noodles, and Suffer.

Greg Galinsky (aka P-nut) has applied his creative eye to a wide spectrum of projects - ranging from designing clothing and skateboard graphics to customizing shoes and cars with his artwork. Some of Greg's projects include "Junkies," a Santa Monica based t-shirt company and 1971, a clothing, lifestyle, and art company. More recently, Greg is working on various side projects including: a connect-the-dot skateboard for Western Edition, cell phone screen designs for Verizon Wireless and Samsung, and custom painted cars for Honda.
