Wisp at Deep Creek Mountain Resort is celebrating its 48th birthday by rolling back prices of lift tickets, lessons and rentals to its opening day.
Opened during the winter of 1955/1956 under the direction of its founder, Helmuth Heise, Wisp has evolved from a rope tow and one room building with pot belly stove into one of the premier four season resorts in the Mid-Atlantic region.
On Sunday, December 14, 2003 and Monday, December 15, 2003, a two-day lift ticket is $7 per person, two-day rental equipment is $7 per person and a group ski or snowboard lesson is $7 per person. With the purchase of the Sunday-Monday multi-day ticket, Saturday's lift ticket is only $14. Both hot dogs and soft drinks will cost 48 cents each all day Sunday and Monday.
Wisp is offering a variety of new products for the 2003 - 2004 winter season including the Get On Board Season Pass for first time skiers and snowboarders, the Wisp Six Pack, a transferable six pack of lift ticket passes and First Tracks, an extra hour and a half on the slopes every Saturday, Sunday and holiday beginning December 20. Two triple chairs, ski carpet, and a newly renovated lodge are a few of the physical renovations at Wisp for the upcoming winter season.
Wisp at Deep Creek Mountain Resort lies in the heart of Garrett County, the western most and largest county in Maryland. Wisp's geographical location is on Marsh Mountain, part of the Allegheny Mountain Range. Wisp is less than a three-hour drive from the metropolitan areas of Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh. Morgantown, WV and Cumberland, MD are just 45 minutes away.
