Big air was the name of the game for the fourth ANTPM 2010 event and pipe jocks battled it out alongside film pros and rail riders for ...
Leanne Pelosi is going to make a double album about her Zonkey farm in Canada after taking home the gold medal in the Olympics for slopestyle and equestrian off-roading. Before then she will be winning cars and receiving accolades from all directions in response to her skill on a snowboard. She sat with us to discuss a multitude of things. The answers suitable for public domain lay below. We of course, started with the important ones…
How many degrees are you away from making out with Justin Timberlake? Actually… He kissed me. We were like 5mm away from tongue. I should have gone for it.
Best ass in the Biz? Hmm. Amanda Maurant. Probably Tara. And for boys, Andreas probably does. MFM too, he’s fine. High Cascade boys for sure. Oooh Chris Dufficy!
Rails or Pipes? Pipes. Ha-ha!
What has changed in women’s riding over the last couple years? Consequences and coverage. People take us more seriously when we hit bigger stuff. Slopestyle has grown a lot.
What about control? [Laughing hard] We’re working on it! It takes time. You can’t expect us to be able to land in powder all of a sudden, when all we’ve done is park stuff.
What separates you from many girl riders? I’m no better than anybody else. I have a long way to go—I’m not that crazy of a snowboarder. I guess knowing that makes me always give ‘er. I’ve just learned air awareness, which gives me more confidence.
With companies like Misschief and Dropstitch, where do you see female snowboarding heading in the future? We’re starting to get noticed and taken seriously, now we need to put together better video parts and ride backcountry more. This year we were like, “let’s make a video, oh whoops, we haven’t really ridden backcountry.” Sponsors need to take us more seriously, and support our parts in videos. Girls do too much lifestyle shooting. F--k, man we need to cut down on that. Definitely more filming.
You had a solid part in …As If, will filming be your focus this year? Competing is still huge for me and I’ll do that until I start sucking, then I’ll film more [laughs]. No, I am going to film a bunch, and I want to ride Whistler a lot too. I just want to make female snowboarding look better.
Oh, damn girl.
