This year SNOWBOARDER Magazine is celebrating their 20th anniversary. To memorialize the last twenty years we've compiled a list of the twenty most influential riders in the history of our young sport. Jamie Lynn's methods, Craig Kelly's powder carves, Tara Dakides' backside rodeos, Shaun White's 2006 Torino gold medal performance. These are moments that have defined the simple act of sliding a board on snow.

There have been countless instances when riders have changed the sport forever. To determine who contributed the most to the evolution Snowboarder returned to the tried and true Rider of the Year selection Method. This allows standout riders, the elite men and women who truly shape our sport, to choose who they feel has guided our sport to where it is now. The list of voters includes our Top Ten riders' of the year jury, as well as, respected pros from the past, who, SNOWBOARDER feels, deserve input. Peter Line, Leanne Pelosi, Travis Parker, David Carrier Porcheron, Barret Christy, Gigi Rüf, Shawn Farmer, Eero Ettala, Steve Graham, Andreas Wiig, Nicolas Müller, Jussi Oksanen and many other esteemed shredders created this list of living history.
