The Push for the Summit is over.

Snowboarder Magazine’s Ms. Superpark® 6 presented by Gatorade Comes to a Close

San Clemente, CA (April 6, 2010) SNOWBOARDER Magazine’s Ms. Superpark® 6 presented by Gatorade came to a close last Friday after four long days on the hill at Snow Summit in Big Bear, California. With less than perfect weather conditions throughout the week these women were unstoppable on the custom-made terrain park crafted by Snow Summit’s own park staff. Snow Summit has long been recognized for its progressive park features and the crew left little to be desired with two pristine hips, a channel gap, a step down jump, quarterpipe, wall ride and a downrail where a family ski zone once stood.

The girls wasted no time in getting down to business. Opening day saw some huge maneuvers from Ms. Superpark® vets Bryn Valaika and Hana Beaman and day two brought even more bravado to the slopes from early standout Jess Kimura setting the standard on the wall and grabbing stale in no time. Not to be out done, Desiree Melancon set some smooth tail grabs alongside Melissa Evans, who’s clean front one’s into the wall ride made everyone take notice.

With so many girls nailing their shots early on, the final days of Ms. Superpark® 6 saw a whole new level of riding with girls like Jamie Anderson choosing to abandon the stock contest moves in exchange for a handplant to fakie. Other riders getting crafty for the shot included Raewyn Reid and Erin Comstock who brought some doubles action to the channel gap.

Riding into the night, the women of Ms. Superpark® 6 showed admirable dedication not only to “getting the shot,” but to creatively pushing the limits of women’s snowboarding as we know it. “These girls bring a boldness to the sport that any snowboarder, male or female, should be proud to embody,” says Chris Engelsman, Publisher, SNOWBOARDER Magazine. “Likewise, we at SNOWBOARDER are proud to help share that spirit with the larger snowboard community. However, we couldn’t do it without the incredible support from Gatorade and Snow Summit Mountain Resort. Special thanks go out to all of our event partners for their support of women’s snowboarding.”

This unique environment has become the source of an unprecedented amount of editorial coverage for female snowboarders; most notably SNOWBOARDER’s own women’s special issue in print next year which will name the event’s standout rider and delve into all the never-before-seen details of everything Ms. Superpark 6.
