One of the first things you should know about Ride Snowboards Pro Team rider Alex Cantin is that he doesn’t like rules. The freedom of riding is one reason the Quebec City native ditched his childhood dream of becoming a pro hockey player to snowboard. In the third segment – which hits today – of Ride’s six-part video series “Because of Snowboarding,” Alex hits the urban riding in his local hood, stomps backcountry stashes, and tells us why he feels so lucky to be able to do what he does.

Each series segment is dedicated to highlighting a different pro rider, and captures the personal stories and intimacy each rider has with snowboarding. “Because of Snowboarding” is directed and produced by Crispin Cannon and Shaun Anderson of The Solidarity Union, with a new segment launching each week.
