After counting all of the numbers, Roxy snowboards showed more than 150% growth
in pre-season sales as compared to the 2002/03 season. Roxy snowboard boots grew
by 88%. A new category, Roxy bindings, showed very healthy preseason sales as
well. All three pieces were offered as a package in pre-season incentive
programs. Mervin Sales Manager Greg Hughes had this to say. "Here at Mervin,
we're very fortunate to have a relationship with Quiksilver that allows us access
to the Roxy brand for use in hardgoods. It also comes with a heavy
responsibility to produce products that live up to the Roxy name and we, and
dealers alike, feel we've done just that. Mervin also lends credibility to the
Roxy brand for snowboards. They aren't just an OEM project farmed out by
Quiksilver. Roxy snowboards, boots and bindings are very high quality products
designed, built and proven by Mervin Manufacturing."
This coming fall, all of the Roxy winter hardgoods products can be viewed at both
www.mervin.com
and www.roxy.com
along with information on what retailers are
carrying the product. The product line is designed for the beginner to advanced
female snowboarder.
Starting out as a late season release, a limited number of boards were built for
October shipping. "The release was very low key", commented Pete Saari, Vice
President of Marketing for Mervin. "The response was very positive and sell
through was very strong. In the challenging market of snowboard equipment, it's
great to see such strong growth."
