20 dollar lift tickets and bluebird skies gave riders plenty to holla’ about as they descended upon powder town U.S.A for Steamboat’s opening day. With nearly a foot of snow in the past four days and a 17 inch base, boards shimmered in the sun and the boxes shined as crowds of shred heads threw down on 14 flawless features and other new design improvements to Steamboat’s lineup. Also, the lucky first 100 early birds in line received free opening day t-shirts. Sweet!

With the acquisition of veteran Nick Roma as new Terrain Park Manager (Sunday River) the ‘boat continues to show their commitment to park building in the seasons ahead. Little rodeo takes center stage on lower mountain base area featuring a choice of tasty, green candy-coated line ups including a smooth flow of 6 – 8ft rainbow- 8ft flat-12ft flat-12ft C and 20 ft down rail and parallel line of a 20 ft flat box going into 20 ft rainbow with a 36 ft trap a 20 foot booter and clean mailbox feature with wood posts.

This year will continue it’s call for more all-natural features, taking full advantage of beetle-kill timber cuts opening up more terrain and earthy features, something for jib heads and tree-huggers alike. Stay tuned as Rabitt Ears, Bashor and the Mavericks Superpipe are expected to be fully open by Christmas. Steamboat is stepping it up. Gear up, steez up and come rock the boat!
