With thousands of votes cast and over 60 comments posted, Week 1 of our Superpark Sunday Showdown is finally in the can and Nick Khater’s Video Gypsy played David to TJ Schneider’s Snowboard Realms Goliath. Pundits and spin-doctors have already started to dissect the nuances of how both filmers played their cards. Was it the music, the roster, the angles or the editing? Regardless of how he did it, Nick Khater’s Video Gypsy will be advancing to the next round. Congratulations.

Week 2 is now upon us and as such, we have two more Superpark Sunday Showdown contenders, Think Thank battling against JTR Productions. Vote for your favorite video and help them advance to the next round and potentially win $5,000 compliments of Gatorade.

What’s your thoughts about this weeks contenders?

Think Thank
Though he’ll tell you that it is a collaborative effort, Jesse Burtner is the mastermind behind Think Thank. Since their first production Thunk in 2004, Burtner and company have changed the fabric of snowboard filmmaking by rewriting the rules. Think Thank is proof positive that great snowboarding and compelling footage needn’t be death defying, exotic, or the product of an astronomical budget. For the Superpark Sunday Showdown, Think Thank put this year’s two-disc epic Left Brain, Right Brain on the back burner for a few days to create an original short, titled 2 More, Skip The Last with a cast that includes Jason Robinson, Sam Hulbert, Nick Visconti, Ben Bogart, Sean Genovese and over a dozen other supporting players.

JTR Productions
Justin Ryan is the J and the R in JTR Productions and he traveled all the way from the bottom of the Mammoth access road to document Superpark. With the requisite filler clips out of the way early, his edit hits high gear with a banger opening riding shot which features Kyle Lopiccolo sprocking twenty feet out just as the Nappy Roots declare “Gonna have a good day.” This video includes most of the highlights of Superpark 14 including Chas Guldemond, Lonnie Kauk, Jeremy Thompson and Tyler Flanagan settling the 100 ft Centipede stepover. Also worth noting in Justin Ryan’s entry is Annie Boulanger boosting the quarterpipe, Brennan Swanson pulling the first double cork on a quarterpipe ever and Daisuke Murakami being mislabeled as Halldór Helgason.

think thank. good songs, good mix of riding (regular snowboarding/big jumps), and variety in angles. it was longer, but everything think thank does seems to be longer length somehow.

JTR was shot very well, but Thank Thank all the way! YEAH get it bundy! Oh and all the kiddies complaining about the media player, GET A REAL COMPUTER! and stop bitchen. The media player works great.

no way think thank was terrible, they were all over the place, the music had no relation to the video and there were long awkward pauses, it was dragged out too long and random actions in no relation to the others. It’s like a sandart where you keep adding shit in the bottle until it’s full or the music runs out.

  • Christina

I love the Think Thank spirit! The crescendo at the end made me super psyched. Thanks!

  • tbt

media player is trash…just embed Vimeo vids

  • balls

That huge jump on think thanks movie made me shit my pants

  • weak

vimeo would make this a million times better!!!

  • Norwegian Bob

Think Thank wins hands down! Wow factor aplenty with those huge jumps, sketchy music, most daring, excellent riders and pure spirit of the sport. Jesse and Sean score another one for us stone cold snow maxi boarders. Sweet!

  • the Dark Canuck

wow that Think Thank edit just wouldn’t end eh? Burtner love your work and what guy’s have done for snowboarding but 7 minutes is a long to push it. Less shots of Visconti noodle pantsing the up rail and more shots of Bogart greasing the mini shred would have been nice! got my vote though

  • Sam

What if you were to host videos on vimeo instead?

  • john

Posting Vimeo videos would be unfair, as some people have the plus option (which allows for HD embedding) and some do not. Although not the greatest resolution, we’ve got a level playing field here. Things are looking just fine for the guys that compressed properly!

  • Teddy Schuck

Blow out victory for Think Thank.

  • Boobs Mckgee

Couldn’t watch the vids way to skitchy.

  • fratador

    like Burtner was gonna lose!

  • Ballard Bob Boy

Attention all Sponsors! Pick a winner with the Think Thank Video. Climb onboard with the Crew of Think Thank and ride Gold all the way to the finish! Can’t beat it! High jumps and squirrely twists and turns. So Renegades on snow pushing it to the max! Ballard Boys love Think Thank!
