SNOWBOARDER is bringing you a series of how to snowboard videos to help fill up that bag of tricks, and help you learn how to ride that snowboard a little better. Jeff Kramer takes you through the steps of learning how to do a fastplant on a log.

1. Start with a small obstacle.

2. Dial your run in and gauge your proper speed. You don’t want to go too fast and miss the object you’re trying to plant on, or too slow and bonk your nose on the obstacle.

3. Keep you back, unstrapped foot placed firmly against the inside of your back binding as you’re riding up to the obstacle.

4 . Once you put your foot onto the obstacle, push off and extend.

5. Grab and bone it for extra points.

6. Ride away.

7. Repeat on small objects gradually increasing the height as you improve.

Every rider has their own unique way of learning a particular trick. What tips helped you learn a fastplant? Let’s hear ‘em in the comments below.
