Viktor Simco’s 3rd Annual Ollies for Alzheimer’s

I started Ollies for Alzheimer’s for my grandfather, Bernard Isaacs, who was diagnosed just before I ran the first one in 2010. It was awesome to see the smile on his face when I gave him a plaque at his 90th birthday from the first event. He's now 91, turning 92 in April. Love you Gramps!

I wanted to do something that would help bring snowboarders and their families who have been affected with Alzheimer's together, as well as people who just want to come out and show some love for the cause. Not that I have anything against pre-season scaffolding rail jams by any means, I just wanted something fun in the beginning of the season that wasn't necessarily life-threatening and hopefully hold a deeper meaning for the folks that came out. We were fortunate to have 50-degree sunshine and spoiled with the setup right on the rope-tow so that kids wouldn't even have to hike!

It was an awesome turnout with 27 people signing up and about 50-75 people there to support and give donations. Tons of prizes were given for the kids with the highest ollies, including Robin Littlewolf coming in with a 1.5 foot ollie for the girls, and Cary Peterson and Mike Casanova (switch!) having a 3.5 feet for the boys. After the ticket drawing was over, I don't think anyone walked away without a prize.

I especially want to give a huge thanks to John Hodge of House of 1817, Ben Olson of Damage Boardshop, Peter Harvieux of Corduroy/The Interior Plain Project, AMY AND MARK from WILD MOUNTAIN, Justin Caf and Ron Faverty of Rome Snowboards, Dan Weigel of Elm Headwear, Cale Meyer and Cody Prudoehl from Airblaster, Joel Kramer with Dye Eyewear, Nate Blomquist of Common Apparel, Luke Lieske of GuRucci Flyer Design, Sean Kerrick Sullivan for shooting the photo on the flyer and Ashley Snell of the Alzheimer's Association, Minnesota Chapter. And I can't forget the four lovely girls that made everything run so smoothly; Catherine Price, Liz Terry, Madeline Brittany, and Graci Sturg for registering people, taking donations, killing it on the mic, and holding down the BBQ!

Rome’s “Amageddon” Road Trip Video

They gave the crew $200 a day, a filmer to document everything, and most importantly, they gave them no rules! Here’s what the crew came up with after three weeks of cruising around in the van searching for shred spots. This is “Amageddon.” Featuring: Mark Wilson, Viktor Simco, Derrek Lever, Riley Nickerson, and Ian Hart.
