Champagne Pow In June Straight From The Fawcett
June 14
While too few riders know him by name, for many, Mark Fawcett's likeness as it sprays and submerges a collapsing skier as shot in Greenland by Steve Casamiro in 1992 encapsulates the us against them angst and attitude of riding during the outlaw era. Since the "attitude" poster first adorned bedroom walls around the world, Fawcett has competed as a racer in two Olympics, become a certified backcountry guide, opened a snowboard shop and come full circle as a competitive snowboarding coach mentoring future olympians. Snowboarder last caught up with Mark as he arrived at the base of the Supernatural Course at Baldface, BC in February after he finished skinning up to the zone from all the way down in Nelson. Currently Mark is still aspiring to reach even greater heights with his new Fawcett snowboard creations as well as his own descents. Here is a self shot POV edit from less than a week ago filmed on one mission to ride Whitewater after an atypical June dump. Insane. For more info on Mark visit markfawcett.com.
