    I think yeah, it’s great they gave him some time to get himself together. I mean, look at that hit, it’s not like people thought he would get back up and throw down the run he did after that. Would they do it for anyone else? I’d love to say yes, but I don’t think they would. Anyways, that’s my two cents.

    i believe they would favor shaun i mean think about how much money he s worth tons of viewers would be watching cuz of him. that being said the majority of the viewers proablely aren t oyur core snowboarders so i can see why they did this at the same time i dont beleive they would do this for many competitors it s not right but it s buniess

    Shaun is snowboarding’s household name, and thanks to Dancing with the Stars Louie Vito is probably the only other rider that the average American outside the snowboarding community is familiar with. The X games are about ratings and Shaun is their golden boy. I’d like to say that they would give this same treatment to every rider but we all know that’s not true. Some might argue that Torah Bright would be an example, granted she was on her second concussion.

    I feel like all of the special attention Shaun’s been receiving (from a delayed contest to his personal secluded halfpipe) has been causing some tension among snowboarders. Maybe its because he’s aiding in the sport becoming more popular and mainstream, or maybe because when you’re the best you’ll always have haters. But I don’t think anyone can disagree that the boy can ride.

    Yeah they delayed the start for SW, but so what. He’s their biggest money earner, so of course they’re going to. Any event organiser would. And for those they say they shouldn’t have delayed for him, let’s hear you say that when you’re organising a multimillion dollar event.

    that was a serious slam. he hit his head so hard his helmet and goggles flew off. no matter if it was shaun or not, a hit like that deserves a few moments to make sure he’s ok, especially after what happened to Kevin Peirce. Superpipe is dangerous.

    You gotta love Shaun he’s the fucking best in the biz right now for pipe. I heard he was looking for a new name. My vote is for my creation “Decking Razzberry” based on this slam. As far as stalling the contest I think it was the Dingo’s fault as he was trying to get his gay ass in frame and examine Shaun’s jaw during the live television feed. Dingo doesn’t even have a High School Diploma. However he made it evident that he believes he a PhD in Arthroscopy.

    Granted he took a hard slam. but think about the other riders? id be pissed that they staled the games for him. I say u take a slame. u get out of the pipe and get looked at and if u miss ur run. Theres always next year. And for the dingo hes a great guy just a little to much pot i would say?

    ya another thing about this personal half pipe. if its his own land its all good. but let other riders ride it to. the sports not all about wining. just ride and have a good time. look at travis p. he lets people do a bunch of shit at his house becouse its the thing to do. dont benafit your self. benafit others…

    No they wouldn´t have delayed the broadcast if it was Eero Ettala who hurt himself.
    I´m glad Shaun was ok though, obviously, cause that slam was nasty. I got sick to my stomach after I saw it.

    Like some people wrote earlier.. Shaun gets ESPN ratings which equals money. But make no mistake the X-Games aren´t paying Jake Brown´s hospital bills nor would they postpone the slope style event if Halldor took a heavy slam.

    Of course the X-Games delayed the event for Shaun White. He’s their bread and butter, endorsement meal ticket for sponsor money. The X-Games are a show first and contest second, and any frequent placing medalist like Palmer, Shaun White or someone else with $tar power would get special treatment for sure. Right or wrong, it is their deal, and their deal is make ca$h.
    Any hater out there calling White a sell out or taking issue with how much special treatment he gets should do a double take and assess the media exposure explosion over the last ten years. Some dudes cut their contracts on participating in the same events as Shaun. No White, no TV. If you’re not on TV, what is your value to the brand? Tony Hawk got hated on too, while Hosoi was more of a roots skater. While we all know Hosoi had better style, he also spent more than a few years in the grey bar hotel.
    Appreciate the kid for his skills and business acumen, but don’t hate. Any kid that can retire at his age, in my humble opinion, is doing pretty good.
    Oh wait. He’s still a ripper, even if he’s a clown.
